Jared Cullop’s Retro Lime Green 240z

Image Description

You have probably heard the expression “clean enough to eat off”, and Jared’s 240z is exactly that. It’s not often you come across a build that makes your jaw hit the floor in absolute awe but that’s what happened when I first gazed upon photos of this 240z. The 70’s lime green really says something - not just about the car or owner but the approach to the build itself.

Matthew Clemesha's 20B Rotary Powered 73 240z

Image Description

We are excited to present what could be a world first, a 1973 Datsun 240z with a very unique engine plant, the A 20B rotary engine. The triple rotor engine was found in the Mazda Cosmo which was only available officially to the Japanese market. Often considered the holy grail for rotary engine enthusiasts the 20B rotary is known for its smooth operation and amazing power delivery from a quoted and often debated capacity of 2.0ltr. Hence the name 20B.

Simon and Ron Ray's 2 Seater Datsun 280zx

Image Description

Here is something you certainly wouldn't see everyday on Aussie roads. A Datsun 280zx with a twist. This rare by Australian standards 280zx only has 2 seats. Never officially sold in Australia in this configuration the 280zx features a different roofline, which some would argue gives the ZX a sexier shape.

Considering the age of the Z (nearly 30 years old) it looks surprisingly modern, something very few models of the same vintage can claim.

Sulio's 1974 Datsun 260z

Image Description

Possibly the most well known Z in the club and certainly the most viewed in our member gallery, belongs to Sulio. Known by his online alias of Toecutter. Sulio is obviously a fan of the Mad Max films, and as you can see from his 1974 260z 2 seater he is also a fan of the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) look when it comes to this S30 series Z.

Perhaps long overdue, we bring you the detailed story of how Sulio got involved with this cool looking 2 seater and more importantly how he also helped form our online club.

Words from Sulio

Rob Fuller's RB25DET 1970 Datsun 240z

Image Description

What's small, green, sneezes alot, handles like a cat on carpet and moves like a hare at a greyhound race? Rob Fuller's RB25DET 240z of course. Rob spent several years turning a non-running 240z into the beast before your eyes today. In fact this 240z sat in a driveway for several years.

Warren John Halliday's 1973 Datsun 240z

Image Description

I've actually lost track of how long Auszcar has been running, I do however remember our first official meeting back in the summer of 2004.

This would be the first time I met Warren John Halliday. A silver 240z had turned up and a tall fella got out and introduced himself quietly as Warren. We all moved from car to car opening bonnets and checking out interiors. Warren was quietly inquisitive, keen to see what the other members of our small but eager group had driven to the meet in.

Graeme Burke's 350 Chev V8 260z

Image Description

This month's featured car comes from Melbourne's outer suburbs. Apart from the Simmons FR17 wheels the car looks relatively stock at first glance, but don't let that fool you. There's a lumpy V8 hiding under that long blue bonnet.

I stumbled upon my zed whilst visiting Rob at z parts in Moorabbin. I owned a red 2+2 at the time and was buying a part off Rob when i saw this brown 2 seater hornet.

I had always wanted a 2 seater and found out it was for sale. Well after a test drive i fell in love with the car and purchased it not long after.

Greg's 1971 Datsun 240z Track Car

Image Description

This month's feature ride is the result of hard work involving blood sweat and tears. Greg has transformed a $600 basket case into the track car you see with the BRE style livery for icing on the cake.

I bought my first zed in 1994. It was a very straight blue 280zx. Over the following 10 years I enjoyed the car immensely as a pure road car. At that point I had no idea of all the potential fun I was missing.

Dimitri Vassiliou RB25DE 1970 Datsun 240z

Image Description

This month's featured 240z belongs to one of our most active members Zedman240 also known as Dimitri. This 1970 240z was one of the first imported into the country. It's also one of the cleanest examples left in the country. Read all about this modern day incarnation of the classic and ultra rare Fairlady 432R as available in Japanese markets only.

The early 1970 Datsun 240z is lighter compared to the later 260z and 280z s30 series. Its lower weight makes it a sought after and desirable model for racing enthusiasts. Unfortunately this also means they are more prone to rust than their younger counterparts and as a result, many have not survived 40 years in the wild.

Johnny Kostic's RB20DET 1976 Datsun 260z 2+2

Image Description

We're proud to present our first featured Datsun 260z 2+2, the first 4 seater Z to grace our front page. This lovely looking 2+2 didn't always look so good, in fact just a couple of years ago it was a sad neglected basket case with a seized motor.

Originally after an early Mazda Rotary Rx4, Johnny turned his eye to the early Zcar when finding a good RX4 at the right price proved difficult. Johnny has been working on cars since the age of 14, his father was a mechanic, panel beater and painter. Like most of us Johnny loved cars since he was born.
