i
I prefer the way this board works over hybridz any day.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Can you give me more details in terms of what you do and don't like about it?

My opinion is that it is now much harder for the other states to keep in contact with each other.  I realise the majority of members are from Victoria, but it is called AUSZCAR and I'm not happy with the changes.  Too late it seems and I am well out voted here too lol.

Thanks for your time Gav and I know it's not easy to run.

I understand mate, how about giving it a try - maybe prefix the topics with state like ACT - Event Name in the subject and see how that goes. We can also change things back again. Also events are very much time sensitive so I'm not sure how much value we add by keeping old event threads around. Perhaps we can purge / archive them?

Yeah that would be ok for sure.  I guess with most Vic events being National events, it only seems to work for them.  I don't really have a choice but it give it a go lol, I'm sure we will get used to it.

Well I'm currently looking at Invision Power Board so let's see what that offers. It looks like it has a tagging system so possibly tag things based on state like ACT and that will allow you to easily filter things.

I liked it the way it was before.  IMO it's always a balance between how many clicks (or searches) until you find what you want and the aesthetic 'look and feel' of the site.  But I thought the way it was before made it much easier to go directly to where you wanted to go.  For example If I only have a few minutes to check on an event in a certain state, I knew if I made one click on that state and one on the thread I was there.  Now it has to be in the top threads of ALL the event threads nationally or I have to Search for it...

Gav, you are a member of the FD RX7 forums, now that is a busy looking forum!!  AusZcar was nothing like that.

What about sub-forums?  So if you click on Events, then it brings up the old group of States as sub-forums?

I generally click the "Show unread posts since last visit" button at the top of the page, under my username anyway.
I rarely actually go into the main forum page, unless I'm searching for something.

I do to, yet I still miss new topics, I don't know how that works, but I am talking about specific ACT topics, not general topics.

"It looks like it has a tagging system so possibly tag things based on state like ACT and that will allow you to easily filter things."

That sounds good.

Perhaps I seemed ok with what Gavin proposed a week or so ago...but, now that Ive tried it, it seems far too watered down it terms of sub-topics ... I agree 100% with what Bede and Scott have said.
Youve got 3 very loyal Canberrans feeling unloved.

Im not software savy and talk the web master lingo but jeeez can we please Bring back Canberra / ACT as a topic heading ....thats all we ask.

Ok guys, I'll review and perhaps add some sub-forums to the events section. At least for the most active states / territories.

If we move off this platform I think we might be able to do things in a neater fashion in future.

Much appreciated  Gav...
Agree that its been 5 years since someone had an event or even posted in the N.T. and we need to move on ....either that or we organise a drive to Darwin  :)

I'm a bit late in on this thread. But here goes...

The only annoying newbie is the one flogging something off and then gone into the sunset. If they want to post a classified they simply register first.
Don't we do the same when we want to buy something? I don't surf eBay daily, weekly or monthly. Only when I need a specific item or price comparison. Same with the newspaper classifieds and trading post. Would that be the definition of a newbie buyer?
If it's really annoying, put a timer on it. From date and time of registration, newbies can't post a classified or 'give away free' thread (or anything for that matter) until 7 days has passed. That should put off 50% of the nuisance. It could be considered the 'cool off' time in the terms and conditions of auszcar membership. I don't know if this puts a dent on spammers but it could deter a few!

I like the idea of state boards into 1. Then expand into sub groups.
Racing should be a separate board.
Social board can include sub groups for all the non technical threads.
My 2 bits, thanks. :)

Separate State groups or subgroups are essential in my opinion.

Ok these are back, I'll have to spend some time later moving state specific threads back into their respective category but for now post away ;).
