My 1st 260Z had Hitachi carbs, no pollution stuff other than the carbon cannister bowl.
I never had a problem with the Hitachi's yet everyone canned them.
I think those carbs have minimum adjustment but provided it is running a little on the rich side you are better off than too lean.
The biggest improvement is electronic ignition which I think your car already has.
Don't fix whats not broken unless you have poor performance and/or poor economy??

I have another 260Z 77' now which had all the pollution stuff and carbon cannister bowl and Hitachi's also, once again never gave me a problem until just recently and I replaced with 240Z carbies, plus a 2.25 exhaust & extractors, but the problem was actually the fuel pump, so did all that work unnessarily but the real change after the modifications was way better fuel economy & a nice exhaust note once the exhaust system has run in but I think performance change is minimal the car is bascially stock standard. lynton 8)
PS: You need a fusible link plastic cover to finish off the engine bay.........congratulations a nice find that 260Z

Dyno results from after the rebuild and while the carbs were still good. Not bad for an L28.

Looks like the dyno was done in third gear. That is not the norm,

2" exhaust for a bored L28, 2,960cc? ??? (Which I'm guessing is 89mm pistons)
Think you'd want to go bigger with specs like that?
Let alone triples!

I ended up paying 16K. Really happy with that though as the PO spent 32K on it to get it to that point. Aside from the carb issues, I can't fault a single thing on the car.

Very nice mate and that is a good price for the car.  I reckon you should keep it stock, but it's your car and I am sure you will enjoy the hell out of it.

Done a bit of stuff with the car since I got it.

New paint job to put it back to 110 (?) red, put on the 16x8 Rota RBs (offset 0), put in a new Bosch alternator, converted it to manual a 3.9 diff, put on 240Z carbs (MASSIVE difference) and put on the fender mirrors.

Next up will be to put on a Kameari air dam and to drop it just a couple inches with some king low springs. Maybe some Koni yellows in the future too... Just waiting for a good price. After that, there's not much I want to do with it other than just replace some rubber parts, to get rid of a bit of wind noise in the cabin and then just drive and enjoy it!

Really enjoying driving. Take it out around once a week for a drive around the country and to go camping. Bit dirty at the moment but no sense washing it in the rain!
