Good stuff, i'll be after a set for sure. Will the ID of your rails allow welding over the existing rails or will the originals need to be removed?

Hi bud, currently they are to suit total replacement(remove and replace)
however I can widen the rail to facilitate a 'CAP' type install, although you are just creating a safe haveven for rust to tear through the new ones,
OK yes you will probably get another 5-15 or so years out of these ones, possibly more depending on moisture and exposure,
My recommendation is replace completely, old rails are usually squashed an bashed about a bit anyway so fitment would not be an IDEAL slip on/over the old ones. A BFH will be req'd
Youd be suprised what lurks inside your existing rails or box sections, thats if there is anything left.
260z rails are different and alot taller / deeper, although ultimately would be another Type/model ill have to finish developing for sale, not a massive problem but valuble time none the less.
As I dont have a 260z, im not (wasn't planning on) venturing down this track, but hey i could be swayed....

All of these items are or going to be available because I NEED them myself,
OK i may end up with quite of developed replacement/upgrade and or performane products
they may not always be available. but i do have/own and will always have access to the IP for this stuff.
But wait till brakes, control arms, fuel tank, and other suspension goodies are my main area of concern. more bits to come....

I agree, removing the rails completely would be best, mine look ok on the outside but on further inspection (when i was patching the floor on the weekend), the inside of the rails is full of surface rust. So i can imagine all that surface rust juice dripping down onto the new rails  :o

ok, about australia day now and im pretty much done with development of the rear connector area of the floor support rails.
Need to get the pics off my phone and i will post up the mocked install,
not completely finished or anthing as these are only mock/trial fit sections, luckily to be 1 foot long at best, but adding the floor rail and firewall section onto them is straight forward.
Need to tidy up this detail and then we are all go.

Watch for pics in the next day or so.

some teaser pics of the rear floor rail -> rear subframe connectors,
still have 1 or 2 more tweaks, but what you see will ultimately be what they will finish up like.
the area around the radius on the floor will be filled in and main joint/edge visible will be welded and finished to look like a bend.
no holes will be added, i would suggest to mig stitchweld these on for ease of installation.

This is ONLY the rear section shown, my floor rails will have this included on the rear part of the 'Full length' floor rails,
from what you see->the back of the TC rod mount.
any q's let me know.

can start orders now if you like, dont leave it too long or else they might be done.....
im making changes as i type, just need to make a variant to suit the 260z 2 seater, although i may need one to measure from as they have a series of humps on the floor i might need to check out....
about to run some fronts for current orders now too.

Hi Nat I would love a full set of frame rails , I like the idea that they can fit over originals as if old one are still good as in my car then they add extra strength , you only need to drill a few small  holes in rails and pump fish oil into cavity to prevent rust either way if you make them to fit over existing then those who have to remove old due to rust will notice no difference , kind of covers all bases . either way if they fit nice I will get a pair from you . On a small note those doing the mod also need to  brace behind the seat mount frames and tie it into the sill  and the  new frame rails  to create a box section of chassis , that really helps control twisting of the sub floor .

engine bay rails cut,
bend fab and finish to follow over this next week or 2.
Rear floor connectors and floor rails full length hopefully complete by end of this week.
have a cool 7 min video of these engine bay rails being cut, although its 128mb:(

"Jock" when you refer to frame rails, are you referring to the floor supports?? i think Veloce above queried the slip over the top option,
look its up to you, ill make whatever you need/want, its just not my recommendation. You cant stop rust, only controll its spread/growth and caping does not aid this.
PM me if you are genuinely interested.

ok, an update for those interested.
Full length floor rails including rear connectors are NOW completely developed,
first pair came up great.
see pics below. but i will/ should probly start another new thread...

ANY Questions probly best to PM me,  as to try and keep this thread clean. (-er)
have plenty of pics on and off the car and mocked up on the bench with my Front engine bay rails.
for those that have asked about capping rails( although im not a supporter), these ones pictured are infact a slip over just so
I could get confirmation of the shapes, profiles and agles, actual one that will be available will not be.
Like Peter has said before the rear connector area is a pain to developan that it was, with the front of the floor rails coming in a close 2nd.

Those of you, that want more pics shoot me your email.

I know some of you have been patiently waiting.
cheers for the supt til now.

c'mon how factory do they actually look?
Please Note!!!! all factory tooling and jigging holes as seen on your stock mangled/rusty rails,
all come out in the exact spots / factory positions as original ones do.
these replacement rails can be installed by any competent general panel shops with car jigs and aligners etc. or make a pro-restorers job a bit easier and save some time.

No welding will be done on these obviously some-welding of the missing corner flanges, as the installer will need to hammer/clamp flat and close up gaps before welding,
to suit your floor and whatever shape you're car is in, as they have been beaten and battered of many years.

If you're changing or thinking about changing your floor pans, this is what you will also need,
want the full length and extra strength of the rear connectors, running big torque engines.

Now onto the lower radiator supports and then maybe long &/or short nose diff cradles to suit s30'Z

Bloody brilliant Nathan, love your attention to detail.

Sad fact is that most peaople probably wont appreciate the time and quality of work you have put into this. Well done mate!
