Jz260
Hey guys, So since buying my car (260z 2+2) in late feb, it has in the last month started loosing a lot of oil. I checked the level a bit over a week ago and had to add a liter, then today added another 1.3 ish liters! I'm thinking it's the rear main seal based on where the trip is coming from. I was basically wondering how long you guys reckon the process of removing the gearbox and flywheel etc to get to the seal would take. I have access to a full workshop and hoist for the job. I'm also going to put a new clutch in it while it's all open and probably put an LSD in the rear while the shaft is out. Thanks! peter mc
2 hours you can change rear main and clutch on a host , a pro can do it in half that time if the boss is watching lol but if your not so shore on the job it will take all day
dat2kman
Gearbox out, then back in, in 30 minutes, but 14 minutes if it is a rally car on a night time service mid event! Rear main adds a bit of time to that!
luvemfast
I find it takes more time to set up the jacks, stands and set everything up. So in a workshop with a hoist, you'll do it pretty quickly.
pauly_adams
it takes me under 2 hours on my back mainly due to jacking up the car, you come to realise why they where such good rally cars after working on them.
