Hope all you blokes with cages are in the Super Racing Class  :P

Yep, Two weeks ago I was running with the sportscars; kept those pesky Matra's and Lolas behind me all the time... ;)

Someone's been whacking in some 48 second laps, apparently!

So, how much fuel is my turbo likely to use for the day and how many runs are we likely to get?

Longer track, more WOT, around the same fuel burn as at Bathurst.
Just take , in car, and in jerry cans, what you usually take for a lakeside day 20 plus 20 plus 20?

There is 98 fuel at two servos in Cowes. Five mins from the track. I think we will get 3 runs and if all goes well a fourth. I normally work on 2 lt of fuel a lap and it heaps. If we run 12 to 15 min runs. 7 laps x 4 runs, 28 laps, 54 lt fuel now worries.

In the supp regs under 'general' and highlighted in yellow.

f) Fuel maybe available at the Track at a nominated time during the day. Entrants will be advised well in advance of the event.
g) In accordance with our Track Hire Contract with Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, a maximum of 60 litres of fuel per car may be stored in each garage at any one time.
Additional Fuel must be stored outside the garage in the paddock area.

Maybe?
Probably highly expensive but pretty good if you don't want to be lugging around jerry cans full of juice.

It's all too hard! I'm gonna do the nancy boy thing and just come and watch you blokes fang around or go do the nav run. Or, perhaps just have a few beers down at the beach! All this rooting around for a few laps at PI is more than I can justify...

For clarity though, do you actually need a  roll cage to run, or can you run without one?

Cheers

You can run with no cage. I did my first event at the 07 nats, stock Z with stock seats, seat belts, open diff and road tyres.

If people don't want to do cruisey laps (regularity) or serious laps (sprints) at PI what do they actually want to do that is not catered for? Serious question, it is a car club thing though.

There's much talk about the sprints for one reason.
There are rules and regulations to adhere too.
There are ideas and set ups to bounce around.
For nab runs and show and shines. Just turn up!

YOU DO NOT MEED A ROLL CAGE TO ENTER SPRINTS.
But if you DO have a cage. It must meet CAMS regs.

I do not have a cage.

Just in case it's not in the sup regs, what numbers are required and where. Assuming we are to supply our own.

If you nominated for a number theirs a good chance you will get it. And I can't say with any authority , buy they normally will provide stick on numbers for each door. The other thing, you may be emailed these details this week when it's finalised. But can't say for sure. Cheers.

CAMS bulletin B013-037
Moratoruim until June 30 2013 on cars in competition needing to fit SFI45 roll bar padding.
For any competition below national level.
Ie, dont panic if you havent got the new stuff fitted. You now dont need it, yet.
But something is better than nothing
