luvemfast
yes Gareth its 2.9 Would 89mm bore be closer to 3.0? I though 88mm was roughly 2.
d3c0y
You're rounding up and PMC is rounding down - 2.94L Be interesting to see the dyno numbers vs mine. Well be a very good indication on what the stroker kit gives you.

Riceburner
Whats the reason for the spray bar and solid cam?
peter mc
N42 head and gordo wonted it like that ... id not go this way normally , internal is the way to go for shore
d3c0y
Yeah we went over the same thing with my engine because that's what i read but decided to heed the advice lol.
620Z
Looking nice Peter. Gordon will be chomping at the bit to take this for a drive down at the Island. For us lay people or V8 munga people. Can you explain the solid cam vs internal set up. Are we talking vs a roller cam?
d3c0y
One is lubricated by an external spray bar on the cam towers and the other has internal oil galleries (in the cam itself) and lubricates through a hole in the cam lobe.
620Z
OK thanks for the clarrification. I understand now.
luvemfast
Spray bars should be strengthened to avoid failure from vibration. Are you taking proper precautions Peter?
peter mc
ahhah i always use protection Simon and its a new oil spray bar
PZG302
Peter, is there any advantage/disadvantage to using both the spray bar and the internal oiling of the cam?
luvemfast
Peter, is there any advantage/disadvantage to using both the spray bar and the internal oiling of the cam? Would it be possible to run both? The oil galleries come up the towers to go either - - through cam - to spray bar If you used both, wouldn't you need to use an oil pump with nearly twice the volume? Even then, could one be detrimental to the other? What gains can be had? If it has a good oil flow. Is more the merrier? Would a better question be. Which is better, spray bar or internally oiled cam?
peter mc
there is no comp ,,, the internal cam is the best way to go .. the oil comes out on the lobe so the oil is on the cam at all times , the spray bar at idle hardly gets the cam wet most of the oil just leaks out and leaves the cam dry and its even worse in the summer with thin oil
Gordo
It will only idle when I put it on the trailer. Lol.
peter mc
yep that's why i did it, on a street car with this cam it would die a horrible death
Gordo
So after all that been said, oils ant oils. Which oil should we use? So the cam gear lives.
