Mechanical speedometer to electronic conversion

Hi all,

I just got some speedhut gauges, and in my infinite wisdom, decided to get the regular speedo rather than the GPS speedo (I'm an idiot). Now I have the problem that I have the mechanical speedo sensor, and an electronic speedo. Is there an easy way to fix this?

A quick google and a hybridz search found me the CableX system, but it's cheaper for me to scrap the speedo I got and order the GPS speedo (I'll probably have to do this). Any other ideas?

Cheers,

Hamish

the electronic speedo transducer from a later model box will screw into the L series box.

You can get it from any skyline (R32-R34) Silvia/180sx, some Bluebird ect ect.

I have one in the shed that it'll be using from a CA18 Manual S13 Silvia.

Can this be calibrated for different diff ratio's?

Would be better $$$ wise as it should be cheap as from a wreckers.

But the GPS units are pretty awesome  8)

Thanks mate, awesome tip!

It's the speedhut revolution, black, the light blue back lighting, red needle, indicator and high beam lights.

I'll give the electronic speedo transducer thing a go first though. Can you please take a picture of yours for me so I know what I'm looking for?

thats pretty much as close is i can find after a bit of a google while at work.

That is on a R31 Skyline (Import Coupe, the oz ones are mech.)

The electronic sender unit part screws on where the cable would go, So your basic calibration can still be done by changing the cogs.

in reality, thats not needed though, all you need to know is the amount of pulses per revolution and you can calibrate your speedo to suit what it puts out.

Yep, definately interested if you do want to sell that gauge.
