benny
Sorry for not being clear John, I'm interested in the entire brake setup, but if it can't be engineered I don't really see the point, so only put me down as a maybe - what path are you taking for brakes and suspension? correct me if im wrong but I believe the wilwoods dont have dust seals which are a requirement for RWC/engineering?? Sirpent
LOL Benny I think people would retro fit them after certification.
benny
LOL Benny I think people would retro fit them after certification. definitely... I know i would, but if you get defected it would be a huge pain!! They may not be an issue with dust seals just thought there was
MaygZ
I might be wrong my young father, but I think the dust shield thing is a furfy.
neRok
I might be wrong my young father, but I think the dust shield thing is a furfy.unfortunately not. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP5_Section_LG_Brakes_V2_01Jan2011.pdf page 9, last sentence of section 2.7.2 : "Caliper pistons must be fitted with dust seals." zedevan
but if you get defected it would be a huge pain!! They may not be an issue with dust seals just thought there was the other pain with using wilwoods should they not pass engineers, is that any decent engine mods will require a brake upgrade, thereby meaning you need a decent "engineered" set aswell - although some vented two pot calipers would prob do the job, but then why not just stick with them. I've read something saying the wilwoods used by arizona z car do have a seal in them, they just dont call it a 'dust seal', not sure if this is true or if a certifying engineer could/would agree... might be best off to buy all their suspension gear and swap it in/out in one hit when defected
benny
unfortunately not. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP5_Section_LG_Brakes_V2_01Jan2011.pdf page 9, last sentence of section 2.7.2 : "Caliper pistons must be fitted with dust seals." eeek now Maygz is going to Defect us all ??? Anyway sorry for thread hijacking!!
handsandwhich
How hard would it be to just make up a little rubber gasket that seals around the pistons?
sexual_sushi
Apparently wilwood offers dust seals on some of their calipers now, perhaps it's worth asking the question of Dave?
benny
here is the listing for calipers that have"dust boots/seals" http://www.wilwood.com/Calipers/CaliperList.aspx?appl=&subname=&dustboot=Yes&numofpist=&mtspec=&pistarea=
zedevan
If it's possible for a wilwood brake setup to pass engineers, my interest/commitment goes to 100% - not sure if others feel the same way?

chev z
John , emailed Dave last night and he replied within 20hrs so it might be the time to try him again . I have just ordered my lower control arms from him but there is a 3-4 week wait on the knuckles , if you can get a package deal going I might still be in the need for them. yours Steve
