This was sent via the public contact email for the site. Looks like it could be a really cool event and personally I'd love to see some classic air planes also.
Here is the message as it was sent to me below:
Dear Car Club Committee
My Name is Mark Pilkington, secretary of the Australian National Aviation Museum at Moorabbin Airport, http://www.aarg.com.au
Our Museum is owned and operated by the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group, a community based, not for profit registered charity, the collection was established in 1962, the permanent museum opened in 1964 and is the oldest volunteer Aviation Museum in Australia. Over the last 49 years, the museum has saved a number of significant examples of Australia's aviation heritage, and with nearly 50 aircraft on display, in storage or under restoration, and over 20 engines on display, the Museum is one of the largest in Australia.
We would like to extend an invitation to your club and your members to attend, or even display, at our up and coming Wings & Wheels Exotic Car Show on 12 - 13 November.
Wings and Wheels is the museum’s annual motoring show that celebrates the many links between aviation and automobiles. You’ll see a range of classic cars, famous racing cars, vintage and veteran cars, and always, something unusual. This year a collection of exotic and rare examples of the automotive world will be on show ranging from Bugatti and Ferrari sports and touring cars through to Formula I cars from the 1970s.
This display of exotic automobiles is set among the historic aircraft of the museum and several of the museum’s aircraft will have cockpits open for inspection and there is also the opportunity to examine recently acquired exhibits such as the rare WW2 Australian built DAP Beaufort Bomber, and the Ansett Collection of historic aircraft engines.
At this stage we’re still adding more of these exotic machines to the list of exhibits, so check our website http://aarg.com.au/e...&wheels2011.htm nearer the event to see an update on the world-class assembly of motoring greats we’re lining up for you. In the meantime, be sure to note that weekend in your calendar.
Please note, due to the special nature of these exhibits a special exhibition entry fee applies of $25 Family, $12.50 Adults, $5 Children/Concessions,Children under 6 free
Attached is a Wings & Wheels 2011 flyer in PDF form should you wish to forward it electronically to your members, or reproduce it in any newsletter?
As a special offer to your car club members, we would like to offer a discount entry price of $8.50 per Adult on presentation of a valid membership card of your club.
In addition, if your club would like to make attendance at the show a club event, exhibit a representative car and club display within the museum grounds, or simply display attending members cars in the public carpark we would be pleased to know of those plans - please contact Museum Chairman Graham Malcolm on 0433983798 for further information.
