It's been a protracted process, Going through shed quotes to find the best deal, dealing with the local council about the permit, through booking someone to excavate the site & then not showing up after repeated phone calls... finding a new bloke who did the job 2 days after being called(!), waiting for the concreters to lay the slab, then waiting for the site to dry out enough to be able to do the pour (3 week wait!). It was finally poured last Friday (29/4), & the shed arriving Monday (2/5)!!! I bought the shed kit from Total Span & the shed specs are (roughly) 7.3mtrs x 7.3 mtrs, 3.2mtr walls, 4mtr roof pitch. Costs so far is: Shed kit (with PA door & roof insulation): $8,000 Permit: $650 Site excavation & crushed rock supplied: $1,240 Concrete: $3,480 Embedded 'I' beams in slab: $220 Epoxy floor coating: $432 Sub-Total: $14,022 Still to be done is the electrical wiring & plumbing, before the permit is signed off. Peter Mac - 'Demolition Man' Site excavated! The ground was so soft, Sean the bobcat driver got bogged - twice! Crushed rock down, beams in place & boxed up ready to poor. Concreting done & shed kit delivered! Now the fun begins - my erection...! Incidentally, I'm hoping to break Salty's shed lap record around Malalla. C.A.R. Posted May 3, 2011 Author Share Posted May 3, 2011 Yes Ovvy - like Big Kev; "I'm excited". But unlike Big Kev, I'm not dead. Yes, the slab was poured on a thick poly sheet membrane. HD Reo mesh was also used, as well as a deeper concrete trench along the width of the slab to help lessen the chance of core shift and/or slab cracking. We'll be also running some perforated 'donky dick' around the outside of the shed, which will be plumbed into the storm water to help direct runoff away from the slab. Didn't you have a hoist? How are the beams kept in the concrete? Welded to the reinforcing? Brad, the slab was the std 100mm thick jobbie. The reo mesh was the larger 8mm type (IIRC). The hoist from 'previous episodes' is at the Olds place - I'll be buying my one a little later... The beams have large holes cut in the webbing so the concrete flowed through, locking them in place. Also had a 400mm drop on my block so ended up with 11m3of road base and 12m3 of n25 concrete. Consider yourself lucky you had a nice flat block.
