Gnr8ionx
Guys I recently purchased a set of SU's off ebay and i'm not sure if they are early 260z SU's or if they are actually 240z's ... they came with N36 intakes and fuel rail.... Can anyone shed some light on the subject !! I did have the Hitachi SU's off my 2+2 when i wrecked it and these are not like the Flat topped SU's of the Hitachi...[/img] Seems my image didnt go up... they are on my gallery pics
Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2006 Administrators Share Posted December 7, 2006 I just took a look at the image you posted of the SU carburetors you have. http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=1 These are not 240z \"Hitachi\" carburetors. I can tell by a few things the first is the dash pot lid. The dash pot itself has a shorter height than the 240z style ones. Also the bottom where the mixture adjustment is you'll probably find a hex nut. On the 240z style ones its actually a rounded tap (hard to explain). Of course the biggest give away is that a 240z style SU Carb has actual Hitachi symbols on it. If you look under the oil cap and in many other places of your Z you will see what the hitachi symbol is. Take a look at this page for some differences http://www.ztherapy.com/technical_stuff/spotterguides/zcar/240spotter.htm Cheers Gavin. Toecutter
Yer I've seen heaps of British SU's on Z's. I've heard you can mix and match needles from this type to the hitachi round tops to get good results!?
