Like Gav said, don't take it too serious.  There is a certain Toyota forum that uses this Karma thing and it is not pretty.  Mind you, they have to have a certain amount of karma before they can even post a thread..

That sounds a bit tuff (toyota forum) - have to have x good karma before you can start a thread....hmm how can you give your self an intro to help get your + karma.

As others have already stated. A good idea if used as layed out by Gav in the start of the thread.

Cheers
Mike

Nahh...just means I can sleep well tonight knowing I did piss somebody off today. Friday I "upset" a young lady driving a Toyota Camry who fell asleep in the middle of an intersection turning right.

I've just had a look at the 'Karma' statistics in the moderator control panel, & it's very interesting see who has given Karma to who.
Oh and a certain member from SA has been going nuts pressing my 'Negative Karma', Hahahaha! ;D

Thanks for that Lurch, now we all know who see's what eh?

I don't know where Lurch is looking because I don't think it's possible to see this information from any inbuilt control panel in the forum.

It could be possible to capture this information if I really wanted to, but I was kind of hoping that people would use the system in a mature manner. I'm actually considering disabling the negative karma button (if this is possible).

I can also increase the time threshold between karma votes. At the moment it's once per hour. It might need to be once per day.

Hey Gav,
I think the ability to rate a positive interaction with a member is great however I think the negagtive is just that...a negative!  particularly as Auszcar is not your 'typical' internet based forum, we actually 'do life together' as a Zed community and anything which alienates or possibly causes tension that could hinder our 'face to face' club activities is a big downside for me.
I think you need to investigate ridding us of the negative vote!
Rev.

I think what you've done is a good thing by just having an overall karma rating

It might need to be once per day.

This would mean it would take me longer to express my feelings.  Rev would agree that it is important to express feeling, in a non-violent way of course  ;D

I think you need to investigate ridding us of the negative vote!
Rev.

Did you get a neg vote?  Wasn't me.  I love you.

As this effects the forum, perhaps Lurch would like to explain? :)

Build a bridge and get over it.  My spider sense tells me that you and Lurch are not BFF's.  Deal with it.  As in the 6th sense, I see tools everywhere and they don't even know they are tools!

Maybe you could give each other some space?  It would seem that being in different States isn't enough!

One of the forums I used to be a mod on had the karma system and there was a panel which allowed mods to see who gave what karma to whom and at what time.

That was a while ago, but I don't see why they would have removed it.

Who cares?

If I get +ve Karma, that's nice.  If I get -ve Karma, that's not so nice, but I probably deserved it.    At the moment Karma, for most people seems to be tongue in cheek fun.  Neg Karma on this forum isn't a bad thing.  People won't think less of you 'cause you have a bit of neg, it's not like you barrack for Adelaide or are a criminal (I know they are the same thing!)

I see this Karma as thank you for your help and guidance or I'm taking the pi$$ out of you.  I'm a big boy now and can deal with either like an adult.  I accept that not everyone will like or appreciate some of the things I say or do, but that is considered (briefly) before I do something.

I'm sure that the Mods can see lots of things on this forum that us mere mortals can't see.  They probably know where we live??  We need Mods, just like we need umpires (for those that have tried to play a sport without one will attest).  I think they are doing a great job.  Most times we are left to type any sort of drivvle (some members abuse this privilige!!) and sometimes they will steer us back on topic.  OK OK I hear you, I'll get back on topic.

For those getting a bit precious about their Karma rating, get a cup of concrete into you and harden the %$#@ up!!  For those that see it as a bit of fun, Karma up.

MaygZ
