Hey Guys
Finally got some time and a nice day.
Purchased my 240z a couple months ago. Brought it back from tasmania.
It is fitted with an RB20det redtop eccs, RB71c geabox,  front mount cooler, BOV and manual Boost Controller. has aftermarket shocks, lowered springs

Did not realise how fun the 240zs are to drive. Really does feel like im in a sports car, compared to the heavy 300zx z31 turbo which is now my daily driver. I've wanted one of these cars for ages and now i've truely got the Z bug. The car as is has heaps of get up and go so fun to drive but i purchased it because of the shell, always loved the shape.

I'm 21 and work as a mechanic at a lexus dealership so this will be my project for a while. it is not in by all means in perfect condition, there is rust under driver seat and chassis rails which i'll get around to fixing eventually. alot of interior trims are missing as well which i'll have to source from people. my plans are to restore back to Original so i'll be selling the internals in the forsale section.

Another welcome and +2 for that front bar removal; would've been great to throw it overboard on the way back! That way it will never find its way back on a zed..

Glad you like your new drive! Front spoiler is unique, but a decision of the previous owner.
It seems like it is reasonably modified as it is, which makes my ask is it 'worth' getting it back to original condition (worth in quotes as it is your call). Might as well not be constrained by what came off the boat originally...

I think it's just the front spoiler looks like part of an old evo a bit.... Like the stripes tho  ;)  Did they make 240's in 74?

I think it will look great with another front spoiler... anyway enough thread jacking... good luck with it all and yell out if you need help :) :)

try and make it to some cruises aswell, there is  one coming up at the end of may to buxton!!

Hey all

 

So Its been nearly 5 1/2 years but finally i've been able to start working on this car. Life had well and truely gotten in the way but i managed to hold onto it. Anyway its become a priority now and i hope to put in consistent work and bring it back to the condition which it deserves. I don't really post much but will do my best to give milestone updates on the car.

 

I've taken out the rb20det and started removing everything from the car getting it ready for the rotisserie. The plan is for this to be my weekend car. I'd like it to be close to original with nice paint job. Power isn't a concern at the moment but a nice set of headers and triples would definitely be an option.

Hey all

 

It Was a productive week stripping all the front/rear suspension and components out of the car and putting the car on jack stands.

The next was fitting the rotisserie adaptors onto the car and raising the front end up. everything seemed to work out alright with help from a couple friends and it was a big milestone for the car.

I spent saturday removing the brake lines,fuel lines,handbrake assembly and just generally staring at the car.

Today was a break day. I'm happy the footy is back on, went down to ikon park to watch carlton and essendon play.

Getting the car into the rotisserie is a big milestone and it feels good. From personal experience it feels even better when you get it back out. Good luck with the restoration.

Update Time :)

 

Really not doing fun work at the moment but have been putting hours in stripping back the two coats of paint off the front of the car

Engine bay, scuttle panel and fenders looking much better

 

The air duct that sits in the cavity area underneath the cowl panel was rusty so i have drilled out the spot welds to remove the top cover then drilled out the duct.

 

This work in itself has taken alot of time. The extra coat of paint didn't help either ;)

The Rotisserie is certainly making life easier. I would be really struggling with this work without it
