Should new members have to introduce themselves?

I didn't mind being asked to introduce myself after I'd posted in "Wanted"...it was just the tone of voice I objected to, but I'm an old dog and can handle just about anything thrown at me lol - how about the younger guys though, they need encouraging, I'd say welcome them as soon as possible after they introduce themselves...I'm only new but I'll assist in this respect if no one else is around at the time

I've been on just a few days and enjoying it immensely, there's a great range of topics, more than enough for me to read through, seems to cater for all wants and needs...maybe if the "Introduction" thread was a stand-alone thread seen first up before any other, it would attract attention and therefore entice newcomers to post in there first
