wally57
Guys, I have rust in the bottom of the body panel between the back of the door and the front of the rear wheel arch. I know on a 2 seater it's referred to as a "Dogleg". I'm not sure if it's called the same thing on a 2+2 or not, but anyway that's the panel in question. I thought I read somewhere on this site that you could use the replacement front rh lower fender replacement panel on the lh 2+2 dogleg, and vice versa. But I can't find the post again. Is this correct. Also is the pressing profile on the replacement lower fender panel for a 240z the same profile as for an early 77 260z 2+2. C.A.R.
Yes you can & yes it is the same profile. I don't bother though - I just make my own
.
I replaced my sills. The replacement panel was long enough that I just continued it all the way to the edge. The result was fine. But that was a 2+2 sill on a 240z. not sure if you'd have enough length on a 2+
wally57
Thanks for the responses. Ive got a couple of new sill panels to fit. but I still think I will need to replace the other panels. I don't think the new sill panels will go high enough to get rid of all of the rust
.
Thanks for the responses. Ive got a couple of new sill panels to fit. but I still think I will need to replace the other panels. I don't think the new sill panels will go high enough to get rid of all of the rust In my case the rust was below the "crease" of the panel. (I'm not sure if that is the correct term). So I replaced the sill all the way through which only left a gap between the top of the sill panel and the crease. I then filled the gap with some flat steel. I think that part normally has a slight curve to it but the area is so small is is not noticable. If your rust is on the crease or higher then this idea will not work for you. But it sounds like the lower guard idea might work.
mikmarda
Revising a dead thread. I have a 76 2+2 and require a LHS sill. I was told by the panel beater that the 240z/260z coupe had the same length sills and only the dog leg was different... So. Can I use a 240z sill on a 260z 2+2. Cheers, Mike M
C.A.R.
No. 2+2 is longer.
