hunterzed
G'day guys. I'm building up one of my 280zx's and I'm trying to think of some ideas for the interior. It will be driven fairly regularly so it needs to be livable but if you guys have some styling cues and ideas on how to change the interior around that would be great. I'm just talking about colour and seats either. Cheers Steve
OZ001
roll cage, reclinable bucket seat for comfort, removal of passenger seats for weight reduction
luvemfast
What purpose is the car being built for? Track, week end spirited driving or daily? Is there much you could do apart from material for seats and carpets?
hunterzed
The car is going to be a street car but not a daily driver. So weight reductions aren't a priority. More about comfort and functionality but I would also like to do something outside the norm on this build. So re-shaping consoles and the dash aren't out of the question and are more along my line of thinking. I'm thinking of grafting in a different dash that has a centre console that moulds into the dash unlike the crap setup that it currently has now. I guess I just need to do heaps of measuring of cars that I like the dash setup and see if I can find something that looks good and will fit without massive modifications. Spanishroll
I'll be hitting up the interior on mine later in the year... Thinking: - Black Leather (coloured stitching to match the exterior of the car [yet to decide colour]) - Polished Timber - Modified consoles Got a gear shift in engineering now that will have LED's light up the gear the car is in and maybe have a push start button in the gear shift as well, under the lights that will flip up... Hope my ideas have inspired a little something within you
furrybarry
Ditto on removing the back seats, then get yourself a bit of ply to make a completely flat floor under the hatch. It makes for a van-like luggage space. Also a small mirror ball hanging from the rear view mirror, a big stereo, and some Parliament Funkadelic cassettes. Go retro on that cruiser. Go retro on that cruiser. women will be jumping in for sure. you can try to cut out a crash pad out of another car lets say a S14 and modify it to make it fit, and you'll have a more modern crash pad. thinking about doing the R34 crash pad in my 280zx and using a "stack dash" instead of using the OEM tacho's. oh yeah keep the carpet in there so you dont get defected, like i did.
