Natez
hey guys i remember reading US sites about the book HOW TO RESTORE YOUR DATSUN Z-CAR ISBN: 1931128022 Price: $39.95 inc. GST Its that price at technical book shop in the city, i don't mind the price, just need to know if anyone else has used it to help them restoring the car, as if its not that good then i won't bother, but i remember having the book about ehe L6 that gav has now and it was interesting read,
Zeddophile
Well, I'd say if you already have your car stripped, as your signature says, its probably not that helpful.... Haven't read it myself, but I would imagine it would point out the most common rust spots/general problems, and maybe have a few hints for substitute parts. Administrators gav240z Posted May 30, 2005 Administrators Share Posted May 30, 2005 I think it gives tips on how to refresh parts which i think would be really usefull like i think they mention something about how to restore the boot straps at the back so they are nice and black again. I think it also gives tips on making the little buckles shiny again. I might buy it myself but perhaps ask a few people on Classiczcars.com I'm sure a few of them have bought it. $40 is a cheap investment for information . VertexZ
I have it but i've never really given it a good read. It look slike a good reference though. Basically it covers a full frame teardown and rebuild... It does have a lot of good technical component drawings which shit all over haynes
matt drago
I bought it before I bought my car and gave it a bit of read. I stopped reading it till I actually get my rebuild to the same stage. The book is more focused on refreshing, as Gav has pointed out, rather than modifications. It has been helpful to find out how to disassemble things without breaking little clips, etc. I have posted a snippet from the book in the forums when someone needed to know how to dismantle the rear taillights. Some of the stuff is common sense stuff, but other things are gems that you will not find in other 240z manuals. At the end of the day, I feel that any reference material that you can turn to when you just cannot work something out is always a good thing. Administrators gav240z Posted June 27, 2005 Administrators Share Posted June 27, 2005 Hey Nathan where can i get the book from? Can you either provide links or tell me where it is in Australia? I recently bought a licence globe assembly from a guy in the states it wasn't cracked or warped from the heat of the globes which is fairly rare I couldn't find one here either Warren said he didn't have any so I went on Ebay and found 1 . Point to the story was I pulled it apart and in soapy warm water washed it and all the carbon build up on the see through part came off nicely she's almost as good as new it does have a couple of scuff marks on it though. Got me thinking of how much nicer the tail lights would look without the carbon build up. So i think this book would be really good for cleaning up old parts and so forth.
