Fuel hose/rail set up for triples.

I want to set up a proper fuel supply to my triple webers so they are all getting even fuel pressure.This would involve using speedflow fittings and dash six braided hose, but I am undecided as to how I should go about it.

 

My initial drawing to decide how many fittings were required ended up with about 20 different pieces. The webers themselves aren’t exactly large so you’d see more fittings than braided hose.

This is not a look I wanted to go for. It would almost be worth making a hard line fuel rail with three tee’s to feed the carbs or a proper fuel rail set up.

Do any of you have pics of a really sweet fuel supply set up or some pics of your own fuel system?

Below are some examples I’ve found of speedflow fittings on L series engines with triples. Some are very tidy, other a little extreme.

Well after being so inspired from all of your replies I decided on a path and bought the required fittings. The price could make a grown man cry as always.

I am not sure if I like the braided breather hose, I may go back to normal black hose. Still undecided on where the fuel feed may come from too. It will either dissapear under the car to be feed from the electric pump, like in the photos with a rear carb feed first, or swapped around to be feed from the mechanical pump, after the filter then onto the normal hard fuel line. No return. I am also swapping the red trumpets for blue ones at a later date.

 

What are your thoughts/criticisms.

looks good - I did not know this thread existed. Anyway the reason some do the individual lines is these might be coming from a fuel log. We found on a mates race car that flat out in top it was running out of fuel from the triple 44 mikuni's as the bowls were emptying. The fix was a fuel log with individual lines, one to each carb. This log gave the extra fuel storage under the bonnet and this was enough to aid in keeping the carbs full for that last bit down the back straight at Pukekohe. This of cause would never been an issue on a road car or a smaller track.

 

So I think your setup is great. I personally don't like the red and blue of the standard braided lines - I like the newer black and grey/silver you can get these days.

Yes the black fittings are a lot more suttle.

I do understand the even feed for each carb you mentioned, but wouldn't the problem have been the lack of flow from the pump?

very well could be - we have just installed a new fuel pressure gauge, replaced the stock solid lines with braided from new fuel cell to the front of the car so tomorrow we will know for sure as we are off to the track :)

What happens with the choke cables on triple Webers? Do you need three cables? Cheers.

 

I have tripple 45dcoe and don't have the chokes connected, Never been a problem.

 

Starts first time everytime and runs perfect without them.

What does DCOE stand for?  ??? Want a set of Triple 45s. ;D

Not sure but it is Weber speak for side draught carbs. I think the D = Dual as in Dual throat.

 

Mikuni = PHH

Dellorto = DHLA

Weber = DCOE/DCOM/DCO (different versions of the side draught carbs)

 

All of the above are side draught carbs with dual throat.

 

EDIT: DC means "doppio corpo" (double throat); O means "orizzontale (horizontal); E means it is a die cast carburetor;

PHH - something like parallel homogeneous horizontal
