Kyle's XR6 turbo Zed

Recommended Posts

Yeah the work looks fantastic. I think a lot of people will be interested to see how this car finishes up. I still reckon that motor might weigh just as much as a V8 in the end. Don't worry about what the girls say. Go get as much power as you can .You will always want more no matter how much you have. Show me the money! Just rig up some traction control one day. Ha. yeah gonna be a track car.   ;)

Make sure it is finished in time for Tassie. Take it for a real work out if you have any cash left.

thanks for the photos that u posted lurch

the rocker cover was painted black which i didnt want and will be changed back to red.

those pics with the turbo and inlet, they was just a trial fit which sitted real good except for the inlet side which will have to be a custom job.

Will have those pics in a bigger size plus alot more because they have also been taking pics and will soon have all the pics they have taken and i will post them as soon as i get them.

And as for tassie i dont think it will be finished but u never know  :D

Only checked out this build post a few days ago for the first time and have to say way better than any V8 conversion, this heads to the top of the list and replaces MAGZ28's M104 Benz head conversion in the States, hope you post some vid's in the future once the Beast breathes life.

Hey Kyle,

You'll have some fun leaving behind $250K Porsches off the lights hey!

I know you will be putting a cage in it but just wondering what you could expect happen to the shell without the cage with some quick launch's and sticky rubber on the back? I've heard of older cars twisting under load causing damage to chassis or shell. I know the Z has joins above the rear quarter windows and it's my guess you would get some serious flexing there with that sort of pwer and no cage or seem welding in the engine bay?

yeh ive heard that they do flex when pushed hard. Ill have to stop myself doin quick launch's and driving hard untill i have the Zed with a full rollcage and should also get it seem welded and beef up the chassis rails which thats also later in the stages

Re the seem welding comment - don't race into that too much. I recall .... memory bank checking..... that back in the day BRE or was it Sharp or Electromotive....they stated with their testing of the chassis no seem welding was required as the car was strong - yes it flexes but when a cage is installed and the strut towers tied into this seem welding is not required. Well that is what they found in the 70's but we are now talking about 90/00 technology of engines/power etc.
