Tip Toe thru the Tulips

zedrally

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm running an event on behalf of the Historic Rally Association on the 11th June, thats the Queens birthday longweekend.

It's all bitumen and fully tuliped, starting and finishing @ Pakenham,

cruz over to

www.hra.org.au for full details.

I'm hoping that someone on this list may have a Fairlady Roadster, they had a winning history in the Tulip Rally and it would be appropriate for one to make an appearance on the day..

Cheers,

Mike

It's actually www.hra.org.au otherwise you end up at some American school.

As far as Roadster's are concerned, suggest getting in touch with Lou Mondello who is probably the best known and most widely regarded Roadster specialist in Vic. He'll be able to let owners know, one way or another - (03) 9555 9591.

Lou's is/was a member and would be aware of the event . I'm trying to capture people who have no affiliation with any car club that might be interested.

Why, heck anyone with a zed is always welcome.........

Hi Mike,

Sounds good, i've just gotta join my old club and get a CAMS license by then.

I've already checked the Supp regs but I wanted to clarify if we need anything else (vehicle wise) like an extinguisher? I already have one but it's not mounted.

Cheers,

Hi Rod,

Any road registered car can be used.

THere are no CAMS requirements, it's up to the Director (me) to satisfy CAMS requirementsd that the car is legal & road worthy.

Look forward to your entry.

Mike,

I've sent my car club and CAMS rego papers off, but the only thing holding me up is my tyres. They are pretty low, not quite down to what I think are the 'markers' but still pretty low.

If I post a photo of them would you be able to give me an idea whether or not they'd pass scrutineering? It's just I don't have the money this week for tyres and i don't want to fork out the entry fee if I can't get my tyres past inspection.

Thanks,

If there not down to the markers then they must be roadworthy!

If you consider the car to be roadworthy and believe that the car would pass a cursory inspection then thats good enough for me.

Remember this isn't a road race and all civil rules ARE to be observed at all times.

There will be plenty of Police out where the route takes you, they have been advised that rally cars will be out there, if the coppers pull you up, how do you think you will go?

So it's entirely up to you.

I can't be any fairier than that.

Hope to see you.....

Thanks Jim,

Yes the event went off like a rocket, so to speak.

29 entries, just the perfect amount for the venue to operate smoothly.

The entire concept was accepted by all competitors as novel and worthy of persueing further. Generally, it takes me 12 months to even consider running an event. The background work and officials required can be considerable so for me to decided to run it again next year one day after, indicates just how confidient the Organising Committee is.

At this stage it's the same time, same place and just an afternoon Gippsland tour. Entries will be limited to 30 cars this time.

Hi to Tess, see you soon!

Mike.
