70' 240Z project

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, new to the site and just thought you may be interested in my 240Z build.

Will keep the pics updated as work continues.  Did think about pulling the pin due to rust concerns, but decided to keep at it.

Ditto that zzzzzed ... Don't be too disparaged by rust Dysal ... have a look at the Brown Hornet link if you start to lose your mojo .. At the end of the day, if you do a good job and get it all out, your car will be a good'un and will escalate in money... There are so few of these things now on the roads and the good ones will be always sought after.

welcom mate ;)

keep at it , If we all pulled the pin due to rust on the s30 there would be none left  ;D

it will be worth it in the end

Wise words! It will be all forgotten when your driving around getting thumbs up signs from everyone.. What chassis number is it out of curiosity? If it's an early one, the extra work IS worth it!

Shes really early HS30-00114 trying to figure out if its a 70 or late 69........anyone know?

Who do recommend for rust repair panels (rare spares?) especially floor and front frame rails.

Some joker cut a hole in the roof too.  Anyone have a roof? lol

Hi Mate,

Have a look at the excerpt below from the Zhome website.

" The Beginning...Oct. 1969.:

The first 534 Regular Production DATSUN 240Z's produced were built in Oct., Nov. and Dec. of 1969. These were all HLS30 series (Left Hand Drive) cars, with the possible exception of HS30 00003. Because of the need for a redesigned crankshaft, production of the DATSUN 240-Z's was slowed greatly in Dec. of 1969 with only 97 produced during that month.

The HS30 series cars, with the possible exceptions noted above, started production in Jan. of 1970, and were given a separate chassis serial number series. There seems to be some wide spread misunderstanding related to the year of manufacture of the regular production Right Hand Drive 240-Z's with VIN's below HS30 00500, These are not 1969 production year cars. "

I've got HS30-00209 and HS30-00160, gotta keep'em alive!

Cheers
