Similar to the manga / anime plot, the theatrical release will be focused on a high school student named Akio Asakura who salvages the "Devil Z," a custom-tuned Datsun Fairlady S30Z with a supposedly cursed history. The movie is going to star Yuichi Nakamura, Ryōko Kobayashi, Kazuki Katou, Megumi Matsumoto, and Yoshihiko Hakamada. But the new one "Wangan Midnight The Movie" will be good I hope depends on how much CGI they use i suppose. Don't want another repeat of Speed Racer. S30Mike Posted May 2, 2009 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Yeah this will be number 13 or so. I have been trying to get my hands on a box set of 9101 so someone can sub them. Its absolutly awesome to see that they are making a new one. Will be very interesting to see what section of the story they will base it on (if they do base it on the manga). I also wonder what S30 they will use for the filming.. im putting my money on the Star Road one.. or maybe a brand new one made just for the movie. Add Posted May 3, 2009 Share Posted May 3, 2009 They might use the star road one. On Best Motoring (Japanese car show) they did a wangan midnight special and they used the star road car. It would be nice for them to use the SSS car, but I dont know if its still kicking around. In the assembly hall the "Devil Z" Fairlady S30Z and "BlackBird" Porsche 911 Turbo also made their grand appearance!! You can grab it off play-asia, comes with a card in english explaining what the controls are etc and I've got a document explaining how to get the engine swaps and tune ups and what they do if anyone wants it. That must have been some restoration I guess its tip of the hat to the manga that has Akio driving Z31 that is externally a 2 seater, but internally a 2+2.
