Dingo Dave
Today i went in to a shop i always use for my machine parts. while i was in there the owner pulled me into his office and offered me a job to finish off my fitting and turning apprentaship. The buisness has been around for years. nasa uses them to get their parts for the deep space facility and taff uses them too. I am working as a sales man atm at autobarn and i love it. But this job could open a lot more up to me. whats everyones thoughts. I already think i know what im gonna do.

luvemfast
The most important thing when being a fitter & turner is making sure that you can use your bosses equipment to make foreigners for your car. You seem to love working with your hands so do it, you'll never look back.
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 27, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 27, 2009 There's nothing worse than missing out on a opportunity and regretting it later on. If it's something you really want to do, do it! When you get older and things change, it may not be possible to complete your apprenticeship. Like the Rev said; you only go through this life once! xa1973
Well Mate Your already half way there Finish your time and then do what ever you want, youll find as time goes by employers will only look at well qualified and skilled people to employ, things wont get any easier, gone are the days of a minimum pass at school etc Cheers
Dingo Dave
So I went in for a second interview today. Been getting stuff from there for years now i get to see the whole place. we stood around and chatted for a while. I asked lots of questions lol. So I will be on the same wages as what I am on now. I will have weekends off yay. He has also told me that family is everything and that i should not change my Friday mornings with my son but continue having them and come in at lunch. So my job will not only be a fitter and turner making things out the back but part of my job is to help maintain stock in the place. So a little computer work not so bad. A little customer sales as well. 2 fitter and turners to train me up. seems pretty good by me. plus I can get new machinery for my workshop through the business lol. Mandrel bender, hmm what else can i Think of lol. I do have to pay lol.

Rev. Well said Rev, well said. Yeh dude, you would be crazy not to, but in my opinion, only do a small casual shift once a weekend, not both days, you will miss your time off too much, you always get heaps done on your days off...
