Hi guys
I thought i would put in an update. Over the last week or two i got a bit more rust work done on my car. First was the battery  tray which i removed to get better access. I figure with the battery tray i might bolt it back in so it is removable.

I also removed some rust from the under dash area
the heater duct was the worst so i cut the whole duct out and made a new one.

check out the pics

i fixed my door gap today. as you can see from  the first pic it was a bit wide. This was the bit i was worried about the most, but i am more than happy with the results

i picked up some ZG flares over the weekend for the 240z.
I got them cheaper because they  are untrimmed  straight out of the molds.
I modeled them on my 1964 blue bird just for a for a bit of fun :P

You are progressing far too fast in your restoration for my liking...
:P

Still, my Z was 100% L28ET powered back in '05, but if it's still off the road when you're finished I'll be a bit upset!

We should catch up sometime.

I got some more bodywork done this week The right rear corner was squashed flat and full of bog so i cut it out and welded in a new section
Whoever restored this car last fabricated a new beaver panel but did a rather dodgey job at welding it in, so i  redid this as well.

i also fit up my rear Zg flares
when i went to buy a gun to fit the nutserts i was a bit stunned by the price. I was not going to pay $150 for a tool i may only use once.
Instead i gutted out my $30 pop rivet gun and put a 6 mm bolt through it with a washer at either end and it did exactly the same job.
I still have to buy some rubber gasket to fit between the flare and the body
its getting closer and i have to say i am getting excited ;)

Ummmmmmmmmm, well I will have spent close to $3000 on suspension and brakes once they are done and ready to bolt back in, and I havnt even started to think about my boots yet, then theres the motor, interior and remaining mechanical overhaul items paint etc, nah somehow I think it will be a close race.

I may have it on the road but it may not be finished. That is the best part about SA rego. I don't have to go for inspection before i re register, so i can wack rego on it so i can drive it back an forth to the tuners  ;D

A 260 I had previously had similar panel damage in the rear quarter like yours! Metal pounded flat then made out of bog. I replaced almost half the panel from a donor zed! You did a great job of repairing it...

With the Nutsert gun, we sell them at my work far cheaper than that! I could've supplied you with the nutserts, tools and stainless screws for the flares...oh well..

thanx mate
i would have liked to have bought the right tool for the job but i didnt see the point if the $30 rivet  gun did the same job "with a bit of extra effort".
If i knew i was going to use the gun more often i would have bought one  ;)
