hello, thought i would dig up an old topic

im undecided on cam shaft, len is running 72 degree cam while im in favour of a 74 degree cam. Is there anyone running a 74 and what is the rpm range that it kicks in? lens (engine builder) 72 cam sounds almost stock. Im running 10/1 comp, flattops standard bore, balanced crank, and triple 40 carbs the head has been tidied up. inlet matched. F54/N42 combo

any advice

You can try Camtech cams in NSW, thay had L6 billets in stock (well... six months ago) with quick response.

Check out the spec sheet

Works style 74deg cam will work fine mate.
Should run to around 7k RPM depending on tune.

It was supposed to be fairly mild, Dave.
25/65 65/25 timing, 270deg advertised Duration, 300odd thou. lift is what I suggested.
Weather or not it turned out to be that grind or not, I don't know...

All right Gurus, I've got a couple of cams in stock, one stamped 487 and the other 479C, I was told the 497C was a 74 degree cam, can anyone confirm this and also do you know what the other is?......hold it.... the plot thick'ns I just checked in the shed, I purchased a downdraft L18 head a while ago, and it came with a spare, I was told, 76 degree cam stamped 487....does this all tie in?  Thanks

Sorry Lurch they came with the car, and the owner is no longer with us, the car was sponsered by Z spares, so I presume they came from there? if this is any help, I will do some more digging.

sm needles flew out the door when premo unleaded was introduced , slowly over time tuning of cars has changed accordingly to the fuel available, there are cams available for efi which differ for carby application
