richard260
Wonder what car that steering wheel came from. I like the colour. Looks like a stanza or 200B steering wheel Any way its a shame as it spoils the car would be first thing a change on it gav240z
andyk_79
Looks like a stanza or 200B steering wheel Any way its a shame as it spoils the car would be first thing a change on it I owned a Sunny years ago with the same steering wheel as well. Must have been in a few dattos of that era (mine was a 79 from memory)

Outstanding work to complete: New parts required. Rubber kit Carpet kit required. Parts required to be reinstalled. Air intake Interior plastic vinyl trimmings including centre console. Driver and passenger door trimming Rear bumperbar Parts to be fixed Locking mechanism for Driver and Passenger door and hatch. Few nuts and bolts missing here and there. OdinZ
*Based on the VIN, I personally do not think this is a '74 model, but hey, I am no expert 1974 260 2+2 $28,500 https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1974/SSE-AD-5503485/?Cr=0 "1974 Datsun 260Z in superb condition throughout. Well maintained, and well presented. Very good paint and interior. Near new tyres. Always attracts attention, much admired. Less than 10,000 kilometers since engine re-conditioned. Driving perfectly having been maintained to a high standard continuously. We drove this exciting sports car back to NSW from Perth in 2016 without any problems whatsoever. Very positive drive, steering, brakes and suspension all in great shape. Very desirable manual gearbox. Gearbox and clutch operate flawlessly. Nothing to do just get in and enjoy. More photos will be provided. NSW historic Registration not transferable. Previously registered in Victoria and West Australia."

Vin GRS30010118 with original Engine #L26141289 Pretty sure GRS30's started with GRS30 000003 (Oct 1973). Early 2+2's had the ID plate under the inspection lamp. Then in 1974 (September onwards) it was moved to the carburetor side on it's own plate just in front on the inspection flap. OdinZ
OdinZ
Ah yeah, I never noticed that. I looked at GRS30-000667 (07/74) 2 years ago and the compliance plate was in that spot, and I believe the ID plate was there, but well faded, where the inspection light should be. I own 11162 (07/76), and that has both plates on the carbie/battery side, inspection light has also moved over there
Administrators gav240z Posted June 19, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted June 19, 2018 I also think the vented bonnet didn't come in until late 75 (76/77 really) but possible that was changed.
OdinZ
Yeah I don't really pay attention to the bonnets any more. 000667 had a vented bonnet, but mine doesn't...
GongZ
1973 DATSUN 240Z (LHD) Negotiable - All offers over $30K will be considered Bentleigh, Victoria https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bentleigh/cars-vans-utes/1973-datsun-240z/1187414487 "Here for sale we have a 1973 Datsun 240Z. This car has a real following and does not need an introduction. These cars are becoming quite scarce and you won’t find a cheaper 240Z, especially in this condition! This car is a genuine Californian car. It has the original Californian number plate, purchase documents, owners manual, warranty manual, service manual and receipts from work carried out back from 1973 and all importation documentation. It starts first time, every time and does not blow smoke. However it does need some tender love and care. Car is sold as is. With a bit of attention this car will come up a real treat and worth a lot more! Truely a collectible piece. I also have a few spare parts such as front splitter, wheel arch flares and steering rack for RHS conversion, quarter panel and other bits and pieces that I am willing to sell separately." Moderators PB260Z Posted June 27, 2018 Moderators Share Posted June 27, 2018 That is indeed a very tidy late 280ZX been a while since I have seen one that tidy. Like all Z’s these have appreciated quite well in the last few years, and in my opinion will continue to appreciate. They are a nice car to drive, not as raw as a 240 or 260 but with a little work would make a great “GT” car, Air, Steer and lots of little luxuries. Cheers PB richard260
