My 1970 240z restoration is about halfway complete. I will need help with air conditioning kit for the car. I have not found a forum where anybody talks about a/c. I live an a state where i need to have a/c in the car. I will need something that is going to be very reliable not some crappy a/c kit where i will run into trouble.  :-[ :P :'(

Hi Noe? is it?

I would say your best bet it to fit an aftermarket unit. Your location indicates Florida so your in the US, and I would guess that you are best off looking for somewhere locally. The original kits are not very good or effective from what I have heard.

Best of luck.

By the way is there any reason why this post is a poll?

I am aware Motorsport sells a kit. I was advised by a zguys in California that they were having problem with the kit. i am looking to see if there are other sources out there, or anyone that is happy/content with their aftermarket kit. what they have, where did they get it from. Iam sure where ever you find an a/c kit it will come with all items and hardwares and diagram to install.

I'm sure one of our members has installed an aftermarket kit. Given the temperature of summers in Australia I'm sure there are a few suppliers of quality kits to suit.

Hi Noe,

Maybe give these guys a try. They specialise in old skool air con systems.

Might be worth asking them about a kit for a 240z?

Surely some Aussies have installed Air Con in their 240z's?

Yellazed is doing one now I believe

I have a 260Z.  I bought a late 260Z OEM in-dash system which is a fully self-contained vacuum operated unit with fan motor, etc, replacing the normal heater box/fan/controls unit. It only has the hoses to go through the firewall and a vacuum line.  No cables and under bonnet bits (apart from drier, hoses, compressor, etc, etc).  Everything bolts up stock and the controls sit in the correct place - requires no mods at all.

The dash centre panel is a little different from the 240Z, but maybe you could look for a 2nd hand 260Z system and alter a little to suit the 240 dash?
