Spotted some parts on my mill for someone doing an rb conversion on a zed in Canberra. Wasn't the guy who owned the car that brought them in was a guy who is building the car for someone. Anyone know who?

Was hoping there'd be a thread like this for Canberra  :)

Just signed up to this forum and desperately trying to find a Z to buy!
My first car was my uncles 180B, he was the first and only owner- never knew how lucky I was for that, and have had the bug ever since!
Anyone seen any lately? Last I saw was at my friends appartment block near O'connor shops- copper/gold 260 2+2 Auto.

Welcome,

There was one only recently on ebay, but needed some work.  Otherwise, I haven't seen any locally.  Keep an eye out on the usual places though.

I suggest introducing yourself in the introduction area and keep an eye out on the ACT section, we try and meet up when we can.

Cheers

Scott

Cheers Scott, I'll check it out.
Yeah I saw that one, but am not too mechanically gifted unfortunately. Just want to see if there's any other good methods of hunting them down. Distance isn't too much of a problem either.
Thanks for your suggestion and welcome though, mate!

Not quite canberra, but spotted a blue 240z on stands in the front yard of a house in Denhams beach Batemans Bay..(canberra's beach  ;D)
Broke my heart to see the rust nibbling away.
I recall someone from the Bay did put a few postings on here..wonder if its the same person.
Latter the same day met another guy who works at Moruya Toyota with a nice green 240z , thrown it around wakefield a few times.

I machined the square sections out of it. To offset it correctly. Wasn't a bad job.
Welcome to the forums and the Datsun nuts lol
I wanted that z on EBay that had been sitting in an underground car park in Canberra. Just been stuffed around with money ATM so if anyone wants stuff done Dave's speed shop is open for business. Call on 0418682838

I found a zed down the bay too. A mate told me about it sitting in a field do I went an had a look. Unfortunately it's no good. The guy who owned the property said it was there when he bort the place. It was almost up to the doors in sand wheels still on it half berried and had been run up the back of. And if you touched it something would fall off. One of the worst I have seen. Nothing on it was usable due to salt damage.

I'm out at the airport, haven't seen the red one, but always used see a British racing green 240z with 17's and discs allround. Was in front of the old Brindabella Airlines Hangar, but hasn't been spotted in a few years...... Saying that, I haven't passed or seen any z's on the road besides my own which get a 50km splat each week for years!!!...

Here's a question though, lots of people like to stare at the Zs while driving (especially older fellas), but do you guys also get heaps of thumbs up from general datsun drivers?? I'm loving the camaraderie.....

Well - I'm back on the road. I need to drive to work three days a week, so I though it would be more fun in the datto than the Spacia.  Besides which, it will give me a chance to fix up all the problems.  I did the compression rod bushes on Sunday, the PO had used crush tubes for 260Z rods on the 240Z rods (smaller diameter), so it wasn't quite right to start with, but the bush had simply gone hard and fallen apart.  I also had to bleed all the brakes and had a bit of fun getting one of the drums off... all good now.  The drivers side window, exhaust and new tyres (they are like 13 years old!) will be next when I have some cash.  Then an alloy rad to try and solve the cooling issue, and maybe I'll put the disc brake rear in.

Yes, still stuck in Immi. No problems with the car... once the old fuel (two years old?  :o) was used and the EGO sensor cleaned itself up.  I rapidly reverted to a-hole driver mode, unfortunately... seriously, people should just learn to drive or get off the road!  ::)

Why is it that everyone in the morning does 20k's over the limit and in the evening it's 20 k's under the limit??!

I've ordered a patrol/maverick window regulator ($29 for NOS), it's a three-rivet fitting for the winder/brake body, so I should be able to drill the rivets out and swap it onto the Z regulator.  The one in there now is an adapted 260Z 2+2 one, but I stripped the gears when the window jammed (early z's have crap window setups).

But I can't get a new drivers lock assembly through Nissan.  And I _HATE_ getting parts from the US, damned shipping is like passing a kidney stone!

G'day Everyone,

was looking around for various Datsun parts and stumbled across this thread.  In particular dat240z post relating to a British Racing green 240z that used to appear frequently at the airport, which was me.

Rest assured that I still have it however unfortunately I have since moved, anywhere between Canberra and Newcastle at the moment so it is not being driven as much as it used to be.

I originally bought it from some guys in Melbourne who were looking at building it up as a race car but only got as far as to put an L28 (F54) block in it.  As mentioned in the post I have upgraded the rims (16"), to accomodate the discs all round, upgraded cam, webers, and completely re-wired.  Re-wiring (as far as I am concerned) has to be the worst job ever.  I am not sure if the previous owners had done some fiddling around behind the dash but it was a nightmare getting everything to work properly, but on the plus side its all sorted now.

I am sure most of you know a hell of a lot more about these cars than I do, but if I can offer any assistance with any local things please let me know, as I have completed most of the work myself (against my better judgement at times), and can recommend some good Canberra people for some of the finer points that require a more specialists touch.

I am also looking at organising a trip to Wakefield park in the New Year, and would be looking for people interested in joining.  Depending upon the interest level we could possibly arrange something Datsun specific and even book out the track.

Jason

Hi Jason.

I am keen to do a Wakefield day soon.  I will have the car back on the road soon and keen to see what times I can do with the AZC brake upgrade.
