G'day Everyone,

was looking around for various Datsun parts and stumbled across this thread.  In particular dat240z post relating to a British Racing green 240z that used to appear frequently at the airport, which was me.

Rest assured that I still have it however unfortunately I have since moved, anywhere between Canberra and Newcastle at the moment so it is not being driven as much as it used to be.

I originally bought it from some guys in Melbourne who were looking at building it up as a race car but only got as far as to put an L28 (F54) block in it.  As mentioned in the post I have upgraded the rims (16"), to accomodate the discs all round, upgraded cam, webers, and completely re-wired.  Re-wiring (as far as I am concerned) has to be the worst job ever.  I am not sure if the previous owners had done some fiddling around behind the dash but it was a nightmare getting everything to work properly, but on the plus side its all sorted now.

I am sure most of you know a hell of a lot more about these cars than I do, but if I can offer any assistance with any local things please let me know, as I have completed most of the work myself (against my better judgement at times), and can recommend some good Canberra people for some of the finer points that require a more specialists touch.

I am also looking at organising a trip to Wakefield park in the New Year, and would be looking for people interested in joining.  Depending upon the interest level we could possibly arrange something Datsun specific and even book out the track.

Jason

Hey mate,
Was it green with an L28 EFI wired into it? Did it have an engine fire at some stage? I recall a British Racing Green Z with a sunroof and rough body that was a wiring nightmare, it was so badly done it had an engine fire. It used to be in Victoria. Not sure if it's the same car that you've rescued and fixed up though?

From what I understand it was originally blue - never had a sun roof, and a straight body... So I don't think they are the same one, but really who knows, hahaha

Dat240z,

Sure thing, no rush - just throwing an idea out there to see if there is interest.  Technically I need to get my bonnet repaired.  After I did  the brake conversion (rear) there was a minor incident involving the hand brake slipping and a garage.  Years ago but I still haven't repaired it...

Thinking maybe March / April for wakefield as its starting to cool down.  Depending on interest we do not have to limit it to just one trip there :)

Howdy all,

I've been off the road in the orange Zed for 11 months, and not really paying much attention to anything Zed related for a couple of years (babies, landscaping, ensuite reno, more babies etc... far out  :o).  I apologies for the lack of contact, nothing meant, just flat out.

So I'm out the back doing a bit of start up & clean up prep for the ve-hicle prior to changing some gaskets, oil change, wash n polish etc.  I almost forgot how much I love this car... (almost.. heh).

Initial 'standard' route will be from Weston Creek to the airport, so I hope to see a few of you on the road.

Big thanks to Chris240, who tried very hard not to give up on me whilst domestic bliss (blitz??  :-X) took over for a while.

Scamp

Hi all in the ACT  , just wanted to introduce myself to those who don't know me
I owned a very quick black 280zx back in the late 90's with gold 8" and 10" V4 Simmons on it, but most of you probably were too young to remember it , after owning muscle cars and other hi performance cars , the z bug kicked back in , so last year I purchased two 2 z's from this forum and have been building a good car from both , it currently is as my avatar pic shows , running the L28 with triple OER carbs, and I am enjoying building one up again , big brakes are currently being fitted, before the Hp gets increased.
I am in the Auto parts supply industry and have been for over 15 years, so I know a thing or two about cars , but I must say there seems to be more parts available for Z's now than there was 12 years ago , and its nice to see some good looking cars on this forum, and the sharing of info and parts. I will end up with quite a few spares when I am finished so I will put them up when I am done
I will look out for your cars , but I gather you all don't drive them much

@COUPE79 - it looks like you've got a 2 seater ZX? Or am I wrong?

Spotted this 260z 2+2 in Coolah on our return trip for the school holidays.  Looked fairly straight from what I could see, if someone is interested and prepared to travel the distance.

Hmmm that bonnet looks good... :) I wonder if it's a customers car though getting work done to bring her back?
