can anyone tell me the thickness of that carpet underlay looking material ? you can just see it here

I haven't looked to be honest. I've somehow managed to maintain the original material in my 72 for now. I'm not yet at the stage on the 70 where I need to look at this. It depends on how "original" you want to go. Some might be ok with other material. I like the original stuff.

I've got samples from this UK supplier. Close but no cigar. Has some coloured thread fibers throughout the jute.

how thick are they? from what i can tell, the difference between this jute material and carpet underlay  ( which is what I was going to use) is that it's more conformant to curves, which is why they use for molded carpets

surely someone has this locally?

10mm or a bit less sounds about right to me.
