So far I've bought 5 wheels (all 1969 date stamp) in 4.5j I'm looking to buy more and import but waiting on some cashflow to make it happen.

In the interim just found this image.

Same car but with Kobe Seiko Rally Mags.

Whats the deal with these rims. ?
Were they a limited factory release or something?

Topy steel wheels were fitted to all cars from the factory (exception is later 260z's with alloys, PS30 with Kobe Seiko wheels), most were turfed, removed, fitted to trailers or lost to eternity of steel in the sky (or is that ground?).

Like original hubcaps, now very hard to get.

I know this is the wrong date range for you personally gav240Z, but perhaps useful to someone at a stretch - I noticed that early 280ZXs came out with space saver spare wheels, steel rims; perhaps same 4.5 size? Or was that space saver wheel a NZ thing & your Aus cars came with 5 alloys?

Yes I believe the North American 280z's with Fuel Injection had a different fuel tank set up and as a result had a smaller spare tyre well.

They still came with a Topy wheel but had a space saver tyre with a tube to inflate it.

Not sure about the false floor thing, never seen it in an AU market car.

Yep that's the same set-up a family friend had with his early-80's 280ZX he bought new in NZ way back in the day. That's why I threw the idea in the ring. There are a number of trashed 280ZXs around but whether such cars were all supplied in Australia with full alloy wheel sets or had space savers I wouldn't know.

Yes same thought occurred to me B2.....

But what about other Datsuns of the period with 14" wheels? 240C & 260C had 5-stud, & many like 1600s for example had 13" IIRC, but what about 180B or 240K?

Would have to have the right slotted-hole pattern though of course.

Hi Gav,

I would be very interested in securing a set of topys stamped 69 as I M restoring a early z. It has mismatched other wheels on it at the moment.

No problem, bit of an update though. I recently had some large expensive bills which has put a dent in my plans to ship large items from the US back to Australia. At least in the short term. I will let everyone know when this is back on again.

Just an update got my invoice today for the 69 date stamped Topy's which are due to clear customs in the next week or so. Total shipping cost from the Warehouse in the US was $134.00 (provided no additional quarantine fees come in). Which is very good. I think the shipping costs within the US were the same if not higher!

Hi Gav,

Do you have any 73 date stamped wheels? I'd be keen on a set of 5.

70 date stamped wheels are the hardest to find I'm afraid.
