A beautiful 1971 Datsun 240Z, with only 90,525 miles, at a NO RESERVE auction. Here is the chance for you to become the next caretaker of this true Japanese classic sports car. This car was sold new on June 1st, 1971, by Balsinger Motor Sales, in Palmetto, Florida, and through only four owners (all in the same family), have lived a pampered life in the Sunshine State. The original Purchase Order comes with the car, together with a lot of receipts for maintenance work. In 2005, a set of OEM carburetors was ordered from Motorsport Auto, and installed by Courtesy Nissan in West Palm Beach, FL. There is also a receipt for new seat foam and new seat covers from 2006, not quite sure who did the installation of these.

There is no rust in the car (see pictures of original Floor Pans), it starts up immediately, and is happy to be alive. The car was delivered in color 920 Gold, and it looks to have had one re-paint approximately 12-15 years ago (per the 4th registered owner).  There are some imperfections in the paint, but nothing outside of normal wear and tear. I bought the car with the intention of keeping it, unfortunately life happens, and the car must be sold.

I have driven the car only 35 miles since I got the it, it runs great, and it is a blast to drive. Underneath, the car is about as nice as it is on top, there was a new Flowmaster muffler installed recently, and this was clamped, not welded, to the main exhaust pipe, and there was a small exhaust leak. I took the car to Mad Hatter Exhaust in Pompano Beach, FL, and had the connection between the muffler and exhaust tube welded, no more exhaust leak. I have also installed new weatherstripping in both doors, trunk-lid and underneath the hood.  There is a new DATSUN emblem ordered from Motorsport Auto, this had not been delivered when I took the pictures of the car.

The car has the Shelby mags, and the tires are in excellent condition. As you can see on the original purchase order, the car was delivered with dealer installed Air Condition, this was removed by the previous owner, but he was smart enough to retain all the parts, and these comes with the car. The original smog pump was also removed, but it comes with the car. The clock is not working, all other instruments works fine. There is two small cracks in the dash, other than that, it shows that the car was always taken care of, and always kept in a climate controlled garage.

The chrome on both front and rear bumper is in superb condition, all window glass is original, the original radio works perfect, so does the power antenna. The original jack, tool kit and wheel stops are also with the car, not quite sure if the spare tire is the original one, it does have some dry-rot, and should probably be replaced unless you have a Platinum AAA membership, and can get on a flatbed to the nearest Tire Shop if you have a flat.

This is a 44 year old car, with very few miles, I would probably not recommend that you drive the car home if you live a distance away from here, the car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me, or you can call me at 954-653-1579.

This car is a true classic first generation Z car, and as previously mentioned, it is being sold at a no-reserve auction. I can be of help with shipping, both nationally and internationally. A $500 PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end time, and balance of purchase price must be paid by wire transfer or cash within 7 days of end of auction. I do not accept any checks.

This is an early 1970 240z. vin 6,0xx BLUE INTERIOR The engine turns
The car is in good shape. Its has almost all the original parts
Numbers matching block
E31 head
NON spoked steering wheel
fiberglass headlight scoops
metal fan blade
vented hatch
240z emblem's
vertical defrosters
ash tray
locking gas lid
2400cc valve cover

The blue Interior was extremely rare on these cars, This is roughly 1 of 500 produced with blue interior and white paint
http://zhome.com/History/colors.html

Its in decent shape considering its age.
All rust has been shown in pictures with the worst rust being the battery tray area.
The car was parked since about 1985 and has been sitting since. Its is missing the front valence, two of the hubcaps and the original radio.

I have not tried starting the car yet. This car is a project and will need to have the brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrain, fuel system etc all gone through first before being a Driver. This is definitely a car for a collector or enthusiast. I have the Washington title in hand clean.

9,500 obo

I'd love a red or blue interior. That 302 green is awesome too.

Yeah I love 302 Green, saw it on a mint 2+2 many years ago and it's a fantastic colour. Could almost make you forget you're looking at a 2+2 :P.

Although a little 'over' cooked in my opinion. Still gives a good sense of how good the gold can look.

Serving suggestion, while looking at those photos you can play the soundtrack.

Whilst I have never been a big fan of 920, it certainly looks the goods on that car  :)

I don't know if it's a legit HS30-H it certainly looks like it, not sure what it will fetch maybe $80K? If it's as good as it looks in photos that is.

I've no idea what that is to be honest, kinda looks out of place along with the rear strut bar and gauges in the din pocket. On an otherwise original / period correct example.

It's a bar that is tying the front diff cross member to the rear lower control arm mounts. I was thinking about doing the same thing while lying under the car on the crawler for many hours, as the rear lower control arm mounts just hang there from the floor. The strut bars are Cusco and since the colours of the braces are the same, they are probably old school Cusco items too. I wonder how well they work?

I love the triple gauges where the stereo goes, i'm doing the same thing to mine.

Awesome, thanks Gareth! I'm going to build me a pair of those although i think that design could be improved for greater stiffness. At least he says in the blog post he felt it made a difference.

Hmm, wonder what the definition of 'very rust free' means in his part of the world...

Paint cracking like that usually means 1 thing. Bog. Look at the front of the bonnet.

We all know they rust inside out, that thing is probably not so crash hot under it's "Arizona dry state*" paint work.

My other favorite is "It's a California car, so it's rust free". hahaha, like it never rains in California.
