Invites are out, as usual there are two series, A and B. Which one is going to be nominated as the Z one for 2016, A series? And what class should my 6 litre road registered 280ZX be nominated for? I'm thinking Modified Production over 3001cc, same as Paul's 300ZX. See you there.

Look at the number of entries, wow, this is the A series list where the Z cars lurk, there is a B series too  :o http://www.morganparkraceway.com.au/forms/2016ASERIESWEBSITE.pdf

Mine is in the Modified Production over 3,001cc group, not sure at this stage if the Zed will be ready by 19 Feb as practice will be essential to learn/relearn the track and make sure that everything is working as it should.

Seventeen Zeds of various shapes and sizes entered in the A Series. That's pretty impressive! Although I see a couple of names on the list who seem to regularly enter but don't show.

Richard, I can't believe the bad luck you have with suppliers, but it just reinforces what a complex process it is when you undertake a substantial modification/re-engineering project such as yours where you go where angels fear to tread! The devil is in the detail and getting all the other little bits right. The thing I'm finding difficult is maintaining the enthusiasm levels. Slogging away in a westerly facing garage in the middle of the Brisbane summer is good for loosing weight but not so good for productivity.

Looking forward to seeing the 280ZX hit the track. The auto concept worked well for Jim Hall's Chaparel Sports Cars in the sixties.

My immediate problem is no tyres in reasonable shape for Round 1 MP! I'll just have to go with what I've got and expect to get spanked!

I agree & Richard SNR...you still have plenty of time :)

What say we all agree to run on our oldest tyres for R1...I won't have new ones either :)

If it's ready the Zed will be there for sure, looking forward to the series and the gang of Zeds wreaking havoc :)

Auto project is interesting, the guru is a drag racer and there have been a lot of developments in autos for that purpose, some of which are relevant to circuit racing. So I'm confident he will sort it all out. I'm not sure what is going to be the best way to drive it, wide open throttle shifts when accelerating are a given but corner entry with braking will be a learning process for a while.

I would assume like any sequential type 'box, where the car does the braking and once settling and slowing bang down the gears to the right one before exit of the corner and power away.

Hardest part to get used to from H pattern is losing the ability to jump gears as you go down the box, eg from 5th straight to 2nd in one change.

How did you manage to get away with calling it "modified production"

She's a "sports sedan"

Darren Siddens runs a Mk 1Escort, Pinto engine with blower, hes a Sports Sedan! Way less mdded than the Datsun SUV,,,,,

It's road registered Jason  :P

The wrong way 'round........

It should be pull back to go faster and push forward to go slower like all the racing boxes are in GT and WRC and super taxis.......

This also works more intuitively with the body under the expected forces for changing up under acceleration and changing down for braking.

Or go fancy pants flappy paddles.......

Easy enough to change it, just swap the right wires around, which might be an option. Considered flappy paddles because they would have been easier to do off the shelf but I like a central lever and the positive feel it has.

as are quite a few that are classified Sports Sedans, that have run at MP for years, ie Siddens!

Have a chat to Peter Herlihan up there, best to get you in the correct for car mds category, rather than have it changed md seadon, and lose pointscores!

Many years back I ran two cars ( not at same time) but both were same category and in same capacity section, well, didnt that uset one little wood duck! Took out the series class win! ( sheepstations,,,, sheepstations,,, as far as you can see,,,,,,)

Richo, he lives up your way, and is pretty active in WDSCC, try one f the contact the club numbers, they should he able to supply his number.

He'd only need to be told over the phone what mds etc, and he'll tell you straight away.

Guessing you'd be the only one in the "Over 5 litre SS" category, r at least very few!

Ya gotta get this thing running! Even f the TC isnt spot on, at very least, the following rounds, after a change f TC, you should see changes at dffering rpm to gear chang points, as it locks up for full drive.

It does have extra large pizza plates for rotors?

Only need them to settle/downchange for T1, but Gumtree and Siberia are a big stand on!

The converter's lock up clutch appears to be slipping on the dyno so that has to be sorted, very annoying because I specifically asked for a heavy duty clutch that would handle the power involved. The alternative to using the lock up clutch system would have been to use a low stall high efficiency converter similar to what the yanks use for circle track racing, these can get up to say 96% efficiency which means the slip ratio is 96:100 (or 100:96?) and results in less power wastage being converted to heat. However the lock up clutch system should be even more efficient losing power only in bearing, oil etc friction so cooler still.

Once a job like mine has to be put aside the question is then when can the guru get back to it? The cause of the problem has to be identified, parts ordered and so on, that's where time is wasted  :-[

Sup regs are out but I doubt that the Z will be race fit for the first round. However the car may be ready for testing by then so does anyone know if I can test on the Friday as someone registered for the series but not entered for that weekend?
