GongZ
Very nice Des! It looks like a "Just finished" photo - or maybe a "for sale $40,000" photo.

gilltech
Is that or was that a Brisbane car? Red Hill or Paddington or somewhere around there?
CroS13
The car was priced accordingly, cheap for a reason. The bloke i bought my car off said something which rings true, forget about what parts it has, its value is determined by rust. If you did indeed get it for 4k, good work! Would have been awesome to get it in a original condition without being filled with bog though. Time to strip her down and send it to a sandblaster! looking forward to the build Rudi. CBR Jeff
Welcome Des. That's going to be a project much like my car. Many hours spent in the shed to get rid of the rust that you can and cannot see. IMHO that was a bargain at $7K or $4K. So good on you for being on the spot and committing to the purchase. I will be looking forward to watching your progress. Iceberg
You got yourself a bargain. Very nice. Do you have think it was this colour originally before the respray?
Des
The paint colour is not correct, the original is more of a champagne type colour.
boost
Good on ya for taking the gamble and buying it. I know a guy who has been looking for years and will probably still be looking because he is too picky. One of those dreamers who wants an A-class condition car but is not willing to pay the appropriate asking $$. Even with the amount of rust so far I think it's still a good buy Des. When I was inspecting my Z before I bought it I took along with me a small magnet which I used to test whether an area had bog or not. It's a very simple and crude method but it works. You can quickly tell whether an area has no bog or heaps of bog based on the intensity of the adhesion. Same thing applies if an area is rusted away, it usually won't stick that well. Moderators PB260Z Posted July 13, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 13, 2015 Gidday Des Well done on getting a car, and for what is sounding a good price, possibly a bargin - time will tell Win, Lose or Draw you are now on the journey while others are still waiting for the "perfect" opportunity to drop in their lap. I will be watching your progress with great interest. Cheers PB

Lynton
wow $7k, that is what I paid new for my 260z 2 seater on the road in 1975 (still came with rust) under warranty replaced windscreen wiper panel and drivers door skin rusted from inside out where inner safety bar has a urethane that absorbed water with pin head bubble can't believe any zed would not have had some form of rust repair in its life Lynton
Lynton
By the way these cars came in Bronze & Gold that colour as stated prior is not original Lynton
