Sounds like fun :-D

2 cars I'm interested in knowing if anyone here picked up -

A few years ago I saw a pristine red 240z for sale in South Spreyton for $3500 (from memory it was immaculate) I didn't have the money, and it was gone the next day..

A white 260z (i think..) that used to be parked on Weld st South hobart. I used to drive past it every day. It was well used, and then dissapeared one day..

Spotted: red 260 (I think) driving around glenorchy/new town with what looked like a sanded back bonnet (unless it had lots of rust on it...)

Good morning Clockwork,

I'm in Launceston so I haven't seen the ones down there though there was a 260 2+2 for sale there awhile back that looked quite nice.

I have spotted a couple up there, an orange 240 I think it was with a black bonnet that I haven't seen for some time, a red 240z very original that the guy has had since new but doesn't want to sell it as I have asked a couple of times but i haven't seen it for some time now either, a green 2+2 up the road from me in fair condition and I know of a guy here who has 3 240's but only one on the road.

I would love to find another one to do up but not that easy to find.

Justin

Oh and there was a red 240 several years back for sale at riverside but was in pretty poor condition though I should have bought it as it would have done up ok.

Just spent a few weeks wandering around the west coat of Tasmania. One of the stops was the Zeehan museum. Lots of west coast history and some Japanese cars. To my surprise these two were parked in the auto section.

Wow Cherry is very rare!

That 240z, did you get the chassis no.? Not seen that 1 before... flares would make me think it had a V8 under the hood, not an L-gata. :)

Not a Datsun or a Z but still spotted and worth mentioning. The house prices in Tasmania are impressive.

Jeff

I'm taking the GTO on a 'Tour de Tasmania' in March.

Time is fairly limited and I'm basically going only for the drive. The 'senior partner' is determining the itinerary, so apart from Longford I have no say. Should I use up some Brownie points in an attempt to visit the museum at Zeehan?

Peter if you are interested is early Tasmanian and Australian history including mining, minerals and forestry etc. then yes but as a auto museum no. It is a very impressive museum. Not big and flash. We spent almost a day there and could have spent more time but wanted to get to Strahan. If you are traveling the west cost then you basically drive past Zeehan. If you enjoy Australian history and you are going to Stanley be sure to drop into Joe Lyons cottage. Great history of early Australian politics.

Have a great trip it’s a fabulous place we spent two weeks this trip and have so much more to see.

We do, and with such limited time it will be more of a reconnaissance trip for some later serious assaults. For example; Day 1 is Devenport to Burnie, Cradle Mtn, Zeehan, Strahan and finally Queenstown.

My parents were great friends with one of Joe and Enid's children who lived at Cronulla.
