Nice, can't see the images you attached Gavin, did the owner confirm is a RHD?

engine bay photos would suggest that is RHD.

even thought that is not a 240, but that looks nice! im interested!! You said that it is not registered, how does it work if i want to get the car over into nsw?  does it mean i need to go through checks and register the car in vic, and than drive back to nsw and transfer state?

You should be able to register the car in NSW without having to go through any hassle first in Victoria, provided you can prove ownership and transfer the car into your name. Just get a receipt from the owner to say you've paid for the car etc.. as a backup. Having the previous registration details for the car is helpful. (Looks like RGH 442).

Having said that call the RTA or Vicroads and ask them though, always better than asking someone who hasn't done it before.  :P

Another thing the owner told me is this, because I enquired about the headlight covers. In the photos it looks like they have chrome trims around them and I was wondering who makes them because maybe we could get them to produce some for the S30z.

Hi Gavin.  It must be an optical illusion, but the
headlight covers on my car, which are different
shape to Z ones, do not have any chrome trims.
There is an identical car which sold at Shannons
with a Toyota 4L V8, that was built by the same
guy who built mine, and it has chrome rings.  I
never met him, and bought mine 12 years ago
from The Healy Factory in Ringwood.  The two
cars have identical paint, wheels, and interior
trim.  It was spooky when I first saw the other
one.      My plastic covers came from Vancraft
Plastics, 25 Cheltenham Rd, Dandenong.  I also
have the plastic bonnet scoops, which were never
fitted, as the holes in the bonnet were filled in
when it was built.

Here is a photo of the Shannon's GTO replica (based on a 240z) the car above is a 260z based replica.

Shannon one looks much more refined, but this is nice too, only one things that kind of bothers me, even if its not a real ferrari, it'll be bit weird if i going to use it as my every day.

But isn't the point of a replica the fact that you could daily driver it and not worry about destroying a multi-million dollar car?

That is why quite a few well monied owners of original GTO's get, quietly, a "toolroom" replica made of their original.
The replica may just only cost $3-5 million, so it doesn't matter if it gets a bit bent when they, or their mates, punt it around Goodwood or Laguna.

There was a fibreglassing shop in Sydney, GS Bdies, Planthurst St Carlton ( St George/Kogarah area) that had lots and lots of bdy moulds for all kinds of road cars, as well as race cars, and a full set of GTO moulds.
Like I said,,, Was!

I have seen this car and am happy to reply to pms who require more detail. In short here the car is nice but has some issues with rust (drivers floorpan, hatch) and cracking between the kit and the steel.

Good bloke to deal with...

Cheers Ross

Crikey, are replicas following the same price path as genuine GTOs?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331546064141

At today exchange rate that's $104k. At this rate I might get half my money back!

Good luck to him if he got that sort of money. Photos must have been taken at different times or he has his 2 cars mixed up. Different seats, breathers on valve cover, linkage pivot on one engine upside down leaving the linkage away from the firewall. In fact one has a heat shield on the firewall. Oil caps, hose colours and the list goes on.
Just goes to show that there are buyers out there for all configurations of the desirable Zed car.
Back to working on mine so I can put it on the market later in the year. :)
David.

It is 1 of the better looking re-creations I've seen. $100K is probably reasonable considering what the real deal costs now...

I looked at this car myself and gave it very serious consideration but some issues evident with too many questions unanswered left me unable to commit.
I hope all goes well for new owner - known if member here ?? I would really be interested in follow up re. reregistration/roadworthy.
