(Firstly my apologies for the crappy photo's - I'm getting a DSLR soon).

The story goes...
Vic's Son bought this RS30 circa 2000 as an 'escape project' from his Uni studies. They both drove it around for a couple of weeks before Vic's son pulled it to bits in readiness for a full respray - which never happened.
After Uni, Vic's son left for work in Perth & has never returned, so the poor Zed has sat stagnant for the past 15 years up on blocks.

Vic contacted me a last year and I duly went & inspected it. To my surprise, it was an original country car, with all it's papers, a factory 5-speed car with matching numbers!
Vic has taken over the project from his son & has instructed me to get it rebuilt, repainted & back on the road.
I've had it for a couple of weeks now & have completely rebuilt the brakes, fitted new Koni Sport dampers to the rear (front's were already done by Vic's son) including all new suspension bushes.

I'm now pulling it down in preparation for media blasting.
I've got some minor rust repairs on the inside radiator support panel to do, & an old floor repair - while sound - needs tidying up.

More photos as progress happens :)

Engine is now out, as is the dash & heater box.

Vic doesn't like the original body colour, so it'll be going to a lighter shade of bronze.

The White interior is staying, with the seats & door cards being re-trimmed atm.
Wheels are off getting refurbished & the bumpers re-chromed.

Repairs...

Front Radiator cross-member panel was badly rusted:

Next up - new LHS door skin:

Early 'Rare Spares' door skin that was supplied by Vic didn't have the internal brace welded to it, so I had to cannibalize the one from the old skin, then spot-weld & urethane it into place. The early skin was not a good fit either!

How did you do the radiator support panel Locky - did you make it up or salvage it from somewhere? Looks good, I kind of like the bronze.

Cheers

Time for a long overdue update!

Vic's 260Z is now basically finished, with some very minor works to be done.

It's been a great project & I'm over the moon at the result - I think it looks amazing in gold with the white interior :)

Biggest headache with the build was fitting it with air-conditioning, as it wasn't fitted with AC from the factory.

Thanks to Pauly_Adams for the AC parts - however it still required a new pump, evaporator core & TX valve and receiver drier.

And thanks must also go to Peter (PB260Z) for helping out with the AC install & procuring a replacement Fuel/Volts gauge.

Mate, it does indeed look great - the photos don't do it justice.

Insofar as helping out - was great to catch up and have a beer or three.
Would do it again.

Cheers
