260DET
All the Z fraternity OK? No cars gone under? Saw a swamped Z31 on the news not that anyone probably cares
orange-Z
All good here. Got to spend some time in the shed working on the old girl.
PZG302
Won't be going to work tomorrow and then I'd say i will be one of many hands on deck. Flooding through the Lockyer is worse than 2011 and all the flood reconstrunction work is probably washed away. The only positive things I can say are: I will have plenty of work for the next 12 months I had a nice quiet weekend at home, and I got the aircon working again on the 200, but should have been converting to a boat I have been lucky, apart from the rain and the neighbours across the road having a tree fall near their pool from the park out the front of my place, nothing exciting has happened here. RB30X
I think its amusing that this started at the top of QLD and no one (National News) gave a shit about the towns evacuating and rivers flooding until it started affecting Brisbane....again. Yup, the only channel that I found had decent coverage was the ABC for Tv and ABC local radio. Just like last time, if it's more than an hour's drive from Mt Cootha it didn''t happen for the commercial networks.
gilltech
Rockhampton is getting a lot of mention on the main networks, as are a number of other cities & towns. Also Lockyer Valley, Ipswich & Gold Coast, plus northern NSW too. Our thoughts to all those under seige by weather events.
pauly_adams
I was informed by a friend, the z31 on the news was stolen and burned out first, seems that the floods do a better job informing us where the stolen cars are then the police do
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 28, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 28, 2013 Unless there are numerous corpses or mass carnage, the media won't even bother. Unless Reece Mastin was doing some charity crap, then all the channels would be there doing live coverages. I was informed by a friend, the z31 on the news was stolen and burned out first, seems that the floods do a better job informing us where the stolen cars are then the police do I once found a stolen car dumped out the front of our house; parked there for about 5 days.... did my own investigating (looked inside the cabin, as they ransacked the glovebox contents, saw the owners Vicroads reg renewal so got his name and address, so then I looked through the white pages and gave him a call. Asked him if he was missing a car, was it a Ford Laser, after a few "yes" replies, told him where it was) then received a call from a cop saying basically "leave it to us and don't do it again". Owner was a lot more thankful.

Yes but the coverage of the 'other' cities and towns only started when Brisbane started getting effected.
saxon
My thoughts to all those affected. I chose a real bad time for a holiday to Byron Bay. 4 out of 5 days raining and windy all day. The sea is crazy at the moment, waves breaking as far back as the eye can see.
dat2kman
Had six trees come down, plenty of limbs/branches lying around, the wind force was strong enough to push rainwater under door frames into the house, throgh all the East facing doors, but 50 towels on rotation into the spin washer/wringer then the dryer, kept it pretty much at bay, still wet carpets.. Oh well, bit of a job know doing tree cleanup! AND why the F was it referred to as an EX, ie EX tropical cyclone Oswald, it may as well have been one! The Doppler radar at Mt Stapleton ( down Logan way) was showing sustained 90 kmh wind, and gusts up to 120 were recorded. How bout this though, Springbrook, on the back f the Gold Coast, recorded 1480 mm of rain, thats 1.48 metres! Not far from us, Mt Nebo, had 450 mm. be-zed
I am lucky as I only lost a small gum (which is now fire wood) and a sail over the pool. But I'm keeping an eye on the creek at the back . The river is at 9 m and at 11m it will enter the shed .But that is not the main problem it will be heavy rain. If we get it and it backs up in the creek it will have nowhere to go. pic is from the shed :-\

260DET
Glad that my activism finally resulted in the council removing a big old brittle tree from out the front a few months ago. Branches used to break off and come down on the various lines around the place. Love trees but some big species are just unsuitable for urban areas. Sounds like the regulars here have come through OK, anyone missing?
Jk_zeder
Came through unscathed, choice of suburb helped 'highland park'. Glad everyone's alright
