MSA weatherstrips firmtment issue

Does anyone else has problem with their weatherstrips from MSA? After fitting the door weatherstrips I cant close the doors so I had to cut a portion of the outer strip from the driver side kick to the middle of the datsun kick plate. I still cant close them properly unless I use excessive force and slam it, and I mean really slam it. Hopefully the strips gonna "settle" in otherwise the doors gonna fall off soon...

Same issue, and I bought these years ago. I would advise not slamming the door and thinking it will settle. I did exactly this but now my driver door always looks out of place, and still doesn't close fully without a bit of force. If you slam the door wind your windows down first as it seems to put more weight in the right area.

I think they will settle, after cutting abit off the strip I was able to close them but they werent flush with the body and were hard to close. However they seemed easier to close today so I cut a little more where the rubbers sort of "swashed in" because of being tightly sandwiched between the door and the body, I moved the latches abit to the inside of the car and now the doors are flush with the body. Still hard to close but they are flush.

I'll wait for a month or so and see how it goes. If the slamming continues I'll order some strips from Scott's, just received some for the quarter windows and hatchs strips and his rubbers are softers than MSA's.

Installed these nearly a year ago, and there still tight!
Door sits proud a few mm at bottom or the door, Might get a set from scotts as well if there better!

I've got the same issue with mine too, had them in since about a year ago. The car has not had much driving but the driver's side should be better by now, got mine from All Z Parts, I could be in for a set too if they are better suited.

Ive always liked the quality from Scotts...

Checkout classiczcar, some guys have been using kia sportage weatherstrips with good results.

People have been complaining about the fitment of those for ages now and I'm surprised they haven't done anything to fix the issues.

I have also gone the Kia Sportage route and got one to try out. I haven't fitted it yet but it does have a nice snug fit and you can also use one in the hatch area.

There was a delay of being able to get these kits and I read somewhere that they were sorting out this door rubber issue. Are these recently purchased kits? If so I am going to steer clear of these.  Scotts are meant to fit well.

They are recent purchase. Yea Scott's rubbers are very good, soft and perfect fit.

So are Scott's rubbers only good for door parts or are all of his parts of high quality? I would like to source all of my rubber parts from the one supplier if possible.

Rear quarters and rear hatch and the outer strip of the rear hatch are good, I have not try any other. Actually if you trim off the outer rubber of the MSA's (just the under half) the doors close very well, no out of place and no slamming.

I installed door weatherstrips from Scott's Old Auto Rubber. Really easy to install and nice and soft but the closing efforts are huge! Will this settle over time? At the moment I'm having to close the door to the first latch point and then leaning on the door fairly hard to close it... and then I can barely pull the handle hard enough to open it!

I have the Kia door rubber on my 240Z, and like them a lot. Seal well, holding the door firm, without needing to use excessive force to close the doors.

For my hatch, I used a 4th gen Chevy Camaro hatch seal. It needed to be cut shorter, and took a but of effort to close tye first few times, but works well. I don't onow what the Aussie equivilant would be for that part.
