New to viczcar from America
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:51:04 AM »
Hi everyone, I'm new to viczcar here. I stumbled upon the site while searching for some parts and I found it to be really cool! I decided to join just to see what it's like here, and everyone seems pretty friendly. I'm from America, and it seems as if this is an Australian Z forum. I guess it's true that you guys do say the word "mate" which is pretty cool.

I'm about to leave my house right now to pick up a 1971 Datsun 240z that has been in storage since 1984. I plan to restore this one back to original, even if it has the butterscotch brown interior that people in America seem to hate. I don't know how it is over here, but I kinda like it!

I joined hoping I can get more information from both sides of the world. People tell me Z's are sort of rare in Australia. Is that true? I'm not sure, but if it is I can sure try my best if you guys need parts. I have an early 260z that I plan to have as a weekend warrior soon once everything is settled in.

Hey MATE  ;)

Welcome, its always good to see one of our ancestral cousins from across the ditch join, even though for some strange reasons you guys just seem to fade away after a couple of posts.

I'm not sure, but if it is I can sure try my best if you guys need parts.

Visa versa, same goes this way, if you find something or need something just post away and we will see what we can do.

Good luck with the Z, should be a brilliant car considering its been in storage since the 80's.

Cheers

John

Oh cool! So everyone on here is pretty friendly. As for sticking around..I'm sure I'll be around every now and then I won't be super active, but then again I'm not even super active in posting a lot in the forums that Americans use.

I'm actually looking for a part from a 240z. It's the front turn signals that go in the front valence under the headlight. Does anybody have a pair they're willing to part with? I'm looking to buy!  PLEASE PM IF YOU DO.

As for the parts from the United States, I'm not sure what you guys are looking to get, like what would be rare for you guys, but I have a ton of 240z parts from the 240's that I've parted out. I'm willing to ship if you guys are willing to pay the shipping costs. If anyone wants to trade fro stuff I'm sure we can work something out.

Are the cars in Australia RHD? I'd be interested in trading whole cars!

What's a bloke? haha

Welcome...
Usually from the US we need your passenger side door parts; as at our end that would be the drivers side which parts are always worn out. Little detail parts are always welcome like badges and knobs etc..I know the US guys are always after the "Euro spec" tail and front lights which we have. I'm sure we can help each other out.

Hey Rev,

What's Oz? I'm located near San Francisco, so I can get a lot of rust free or near rust free things. Florida is a long long way from where I am..like on the other side of the US. When will be coming? There are a bunch of Z's in Florida, and in the the states around it.

Hah, I like how you guys call them Zeds

hahaha alright this will become a mix for me. I'll say Z and you guys say Zed. Nice integration. Thanks for the welcome! People here seem to be super friendly.  I just saw your post for a turbo. They don't have any in Oz? Nice word Oz, now I don't have to type out Australia! Maybe we can trade!
