Well not much to report lately due to the new bub, but I am glad to say I've sorted out the clutch master problem. They seem to be very fiddly with setting the travel, too deep and fluid squirts into the cabin, to short and you don't get enough replacement fluid from the resoviour.
Anyway I drives so I took it out to the drive way today for its first bath. Unfortunently that wasn't much help as it seems to be suffering from a disease caused by sitting in a workshop with people using a grinder in its direction and grinding slag falling onto the paint. Little tiny bits of steel here and there have melted into the paint causing their own little tiny rust circle. I do plan on repainting it but I think it might be bumped up to the top of the list now. Respraying it white would have to be the easiest colour to paint I'm guessing. It will be a good time to align the panels and doors and fix up a few areas. I would also like to restore the rear to a more factory look too. Don't really like the pipes sticking out like that. I have marked beneath them where I want to cut out. I don't know how much is left behind of the rear bumper mounts either so I can install one of those. I have ordered some aerotech flush mount bonnet pins to fix up the dodgey ones is has now, and I'd like to get some 260Z bonnet vents to assist the airflow in the engine bay due to the headers. I may remove them one day and wrap them in that fibreglass wrap, or get them HPC coated but I'm not sure whether that will make much difference. Oh and I have received my sweet gear shifter, complete with the T56 6 speed pattern on the ball.

I went for a very short drive as well today, just down the road 100m or so to turn it around (yeah whatever), and it is much louder under load than I thought it would be. I rolled out of a U turn in 2nd from almost standing still speeds and it pulled like a steam train from no revs so I can imagine how it will go up in the power band 8) 8)

Get some detailing clay. It will get rid of rust spots in the paint.

Fitted and new water pump and an alloy radiator recently. Looks pretty good. Had to enlarge the holes to get it to fit and be center etc. I used an original L series bottomg radiator hose and cut and shut the stainless pipe the PO had made for the old radiator.

Also fixed up some of the fuel lines at the pump which were just hose clamped on and leaking. Got a check valve of the 044 as well to keep the lines full and prevent having the run the pump for a while before starting.

I'll have to take a video of it running to show you how it sounds.

Nice work! Might want to fab up a heat sheild for the surge tank/fuel pump and lines, heat is the biggest killer of the hoses. Also Jim Richards claims an extra 3-5kw on his Targa Porsche by running the aircon as it runs paralell with fuel supply line!!! Cooler fuel= more power  ;D

Thanks Gareth, I've heard its best your fuel lines don't rub up against the exhaust either for some reason.

Here is a quick vid of the LS1 powered beast:

Well after learning how tig up the radiator piping, I got a little excited and went and bought some 3" and 4" stainless exhaust to make a radiator overflow tank and oil catch can out of. I think they turned out ok. I haven't polished them yet, only used some pickling gel. Need to take the car for a strap somewhere now and see what's next on the list.

I really like those resevoirs you made. :D

Car looks good overall, I like the S30 in white, even though I would never own one that colour.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm looking at getting some 260Z bonnet vents and I need to install my flush mount bonnet catches so rather than chop up my original bonnet, I have a spare from a 260Z that I have spent a few hours removing the paint/bog from. Not real sure on the whole procedure once down to bare metal but I'm keen to give it a go.

And it's not every day you get to grab an engine shot with the bonnet off.

Well I've spent a bit of time on the shed of late. Firstly I bought some more stainless pipe to add two extra tips to the rear mufflers on my car, and also cut out around the tips so they weren't poking out of a hole. (FYI, Lurch if you haven't built your exhaust yet, 2.5" staino was $20 meter and $22 per 90' mandrel bend). I've also rolled the lips on the left hand side of the car. I didn't really care about the paint cracking as it will get a respray anyway.

I also started the install of my autometer gauges. Firstly the dash came out and the old gauges were removed. Then it got a few coats of vinyl dash paint. I think the satin black finish is very close to original. I then mounted the gauges which involved making up custom brakets for the three small ones as the original gauges holders had been removed previously. I made up a new dash loom for the gauges alone and I initially thought about stripping the old dash loom back to only what was required but it was such a birds nest with different coloured wires from the factory wiring diagram etc, and I just know I'll put it back in and something won't work. Maybe I'll do it one day but not today. I labelled and left the high beam/indicators/ and brake light indicating bulbs hanging down so I can splice these into a custom panel on the steering colum at a later date. I did not want to pull the autometer gauges apart and mount them like a few had done on HybridZ. The signal wires are labelled and also hanging down so at this stage all I have left to do is resintall the dash and run new signal wires to the engine pcm for the rpm and mph. The oil pressure and water temp senders will need to be installed and signal run to their gauges.
