I'm planning on going there as Shannons is only 4 mins away from me. I'm curious what it will go for. If bids are low, I'll stick my hand up! hahahaha.. Auction is in March I believe.

I heard the owner tried to sell it a year ago and would not part with it unless for the right price...so expect it to be passed in again...hopefully it will sell for about $30K+ and it will put a decent price on all our cars  ;)

I will attend hopefully!!!

Yeah I seem to remember it was on ebay for about $29,000. Funny that Shannons value it at $15000 to $20000. Owner is a bit optimistic with the asking price I think.

That looks great. Has anyone had a look in person?

I imagine it could be sent to japan and sold for a decent profit if someone had the time and money.

Also -

"the original Datsun 240Z was so good it even went back into production a second time, with the release of re-manufactured examples to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original."

I've never heard that before. Can someone point me to more info? Sounds similar to the Z-tune R34 Skylines. Was it done in Japan or Australia?

in the US Nissan offered the 240z as a re manufactured car with new bodies and whole new car, cost was about $35000 US per car. All made from old stock where possible

Sorry, you have that wrong, bodies weren't new. What actually happened was Nissan USA found some good condition 240Z's, and had them rebuilt them back to original specifications.  Basically most parts except the bodies were new or rebuilt. Original engine, gearbox and diff were rebuilt. Bodies were stripped, rust repaired, repainted and interiors retrimmed.

I have a copy of the restoration checklist which specifies which parts were to be replaced, rebuilt, replated, or reused.

Thanks Mr Camouflage. Its a shame they only did that in the US. Might do some googling to get some more info.
