. Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Wow!!! that was one awsome bike for 1934......Given that batman began in May 1939, I wonder if he was inspired by the bike? Quote
C.A.R. Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yes they are an awesome looking bike. INSANELY expensive too... Quote
PZG302 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Art deco at it's best, where form and function can be one....... I don't think we'll ever see designs like those of the 30's again. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Your motorbike has training wheels hahahahaha Quote
Mr240z Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Your motorbike has training wheels Fark Mr Camouflage I'm still learning...Give me a break.. p.s My old man pissed himself laughing at that one. Quote
Lynton Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Beautiful classic style motorbike of the 30's infact I can see the long black boots and the SS Gestapo with their as beautifully designed swasticker badge & their flowing designed helmets with long black leather trench coats, gloves and goggles......... a bygone era!! even the 30's American style was awesome but the Europeans knew how to design majestic class ....remember the Bugatti's of the 30's (see pic) goes with the bike....Lynton Quote
menzcar Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Save your money, dont buy a bike, I can come around with my sledgehammer and smash you to pieces for free. Quote
aegean Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 This is a photo of a Tatra 600 (Tatraplan) that I am planning to restore sometime in the future. This is not my car - mine needs a little more work than this one ! Even though this is a 1950 model, it's design came from the previous models of the '30's, such as the T77, T87 and T97. Quote
Mr240z Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Save your money, dont buy a bike, I can come around with my sledgehammer and smash you to pieces for free. Everyone has the passon's and mine are bikes first than cars.. And it's dickheads like you that are the ones that run over biker's while your putting on your makeup driving. So keep you smartass comments to yourself dipshit Come around to my place and I'll insert your sledgehammer where it belongs..and for free Quote

aegean Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Mmmm... aircooled V8 goodness... Not in this case ! This one is only a 2lt 4 cylinder boxer engine. My Tatra 603 is a V8 though. Here is a photo of the 600 engine Quote

Bad side to them no matter how safe you want to be all it takes is 1 KNOB in a car to not look at his mirrors and change lanes in front of you, BMW X5 did this to me only 2 weeks ago very scary stuff No idicating ended having to slam my brakes on "in the rain" locked them up was lucky to not be killed. Another great time, knob in a trady van on his mobile phone didnt stop at a Stop sign at a T intersection LUCKY no one was on the otherside of the road so i just had to move to the otherside of the road, I beeped my little horn and he smile and waved....... . Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Come on guys. Ease up. The sledge hammer comment was just a reflection on the risk you take when you ride a motorbike. I don't interpret the comment as an attack on motorbike enthusiasts. The responses in my opinion are far more aggressive than the original comment. The risk is an established fact. Good luck to anybody willing to take the risk. I will just admire the bikes in one piece from a distance. Quote
Mr240z Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Thats your option...And that was mine.. Someone says crap like that when it wasn't called for i will attack. More idiots die in cars than on bikes...And the increase in biker's deaths are these idiots on scooter's that don't know or have ever learned to ride a bike.. Anyone can pass a stay upright course, Doesn't mean they should be on the road. Quote

Anyone can pass a stay upright course, Doesn't mean they should be on the road. I remember a 60 something old lady "nothing against older people" tryed to get her scooter licence same time as I went for my bike one, she failed to drive in a stright line " its about a 1 meter box wide" so the instructor let her sit again stright after she failed, she then failed again same thing not staying in the lines, I'd be amazed/ hope to hell she didnt get her licence I know its a little harsh but NO balance she was unaware of anything around her and she drove at extremely slow speeds, end of the day in my mind she would be a danger for herself and others who would get road rage at her speeds, everyone in my course had never driven a bike but myself and I was amazed 3 of the girls who started 2 passed when really neither of them should have I'm not being sexist but there skills were VERY poor. Then again im not one to judge to harshly vicroads has made that test but I think its to easy to get your L's on a bike really doesnt set you up for anything and end of the day even on your L's your by yourself on a bike on the road if you have no experience.... well you get what im saying. Motorbikes are 15 times morelikely to be in a crash but I would confidently say 90% of the time it wouldnt be the motorbiker at fault. We understand the risks mostlikely ALOT more than what people who dont have there motorbike licence. But like everything evan driving a car the chances of dieing or being injured are still apparent. My mind you live life once live it up enjoy life and have fun be happy Its sad it can come to a end because someone in a car is on there phone or changing cd tracks and dont see you. Quote

Good luck to anybody willing to take the risk. I will just admire the bikes in one piece from a distance. I think I'll join you in that.... would love to have a bike, but the other idiots on the road are a strong deterrent. Having a mate die on one with his wife at the start of the year reinforced that.... He'd been riding for 40 years, but still got cleaned up mid corner by someone else on a bike coming the other way on the wrong side of the road.... Thankfully he died instantly, rather than suffering. The other guy, however, will likely never get out of his wheelchair again, and to be honest personally I think that is quite fitting. And yes, I know, the same can happen in a car, but my view is that in a car you are more visible for a start, and in circumstances where for example someone merges into you or pulls out in front, you don't end up going straight under/over their vehicle. The metal shell of a car with seatbelts provides for much improved odds over leather, fibreglass and skyhooks. They're awesome machines in terms of power and acceleration, and given roads completely free of traffic, I'd have one, with only my own stupidity to bring me unstuck. Throw the general public's inability to drive to conditions or look out the window of their car into the mix, and its a case of forget about it. Thats your option...And that was mine.. Having been overtaken on a blind corner on the wrong side of the road at 100km/h on more than one occasion, I doubt that the increase is solely due to scooter riders.... I suspect its a case of more people buying bikes and being absolute morons on them.... And as for more idiots dieing in cars than on bikes - how many bikes are registered in Australia versus cars? And of those bikes, how many are in everyday use, and how many are weekend/sunny day toys? Not trying to start something, just genuinely wondering whether the percentage of bike deaths against bikes on the road is higher or lower than percentage of car deaths against cars on the road, or if anyone has ever actually worked it out in that way.... Mr240z Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Everyone dies sooner or later... When my number is up I hope I'm doing something I like doing. If it's on a bike or in a car so be it....I die happy. Now lets move onto some other topic about Datsun Zed cars. THE END Quote

Not trying to start something, just genuinely wondering whether the percentage of bike deaths against bikes on the road is higher or lower than percentage of car deaths against cars on the road, or if anyone has ever actually worked it out in that way.... I did know this! Also told to me on my course, the crazy thing that threw me at the time was of people in accidents 1 out 50 accidents in a car resulted in death and like 1 out of five on a bike .... thats fair scary. I just remember its 15 times more likely to be in a crash I think its in the manual you can download from the vicroad site. Has those kind of stats. vicroads also sends out a fair bit of stuff about how they are trying to improve roads and what not, which i think is nice to know they are doing something with are tax moneys. I agree Mr240z subject closed Just I personally took a bit of offence to the comment even if not intended I still think it was poor words to me a little dark seeming most bikers know people who have been killed by riding and what not. Little more consideration is all I ask. No more from me will be said on this, cheers Quote
