Subject: Public Meeting/Rally for Motorsport

Cruisers,

We have been asked to forward this onto everybody and we believe this is important to Motor Sport fans and to our hobby of Cruising to help keep hoons off the street. We would encourage as many of you as possible to attend these events to show our government that South Australia has many Motor Sport enthusiasts who are tired of not having a serious & viable multi-purpose motorsport venue. Please read below!

Please forward it on to anyone who may be interested (any type of car enthusiast – 4-cylinders, drifters, circuit racers etc etc)

Check on the website www.adelaidemotorplex.com.au to confirm details.

Regards

There will be a public meeting being held where all people who have an interest in the proposed Pt Adelaide Motorplex will have an opportunity to not only to hear from the consortium themselves, also from politicians, guest speakers etc. www.adelaidemotorplex.com.au

WHERE:
Masonic Centre – Commercial Rd (cnr Dale St), Pt Adelaide
Sunday Aug 23rd, at 2.00pm
Please attend if you can!

This will be followed by a;
Protest on Friday 28th August at;
Parliament House, Nth Tce in the city @ 5.00pm (that will bring the city to a standstill).
Police permits will be arranged and we expect total co-operation of the Police.

Everyone is to be on their best behavior as there will be a huge media presence. Bring your cars and your family. The events will be self policed so if you see someone doing something stupid that could harm the image of the modified car/motorsport community don't hesitate to report it.

We are an important part of the community and we (who do the right thing) deserve better treatment from the Media and the Government.

Consider this -

A footballer only has to purchase a Guernsey, shorts, some boots and pay his subs to play (the government and councils generally supply all the ovals and facilities).

Someone involved in modified cars/motorsport probably spends on average around $30,000 to 'play', whilst at the same time much of that money goes into local businesses creating jobs and apprenticeships.

Not only do we not have a place to play, we have a situation where by a private consortium, who wishes to build the track on the land the government offered them (and which the consortium offered to purchase or lease off of the government), with no taxpayer input required, has the offer knocked back because it will 'create more hoons on the public roads'.

If you want this Motorplex to become a reality, and can see all the positives for SA that will go with it, just spend a couple of hours of your life to attend the meeting and then the protest, making it one of the noisiest protests in SA history!

This is our one chance to show that we, the modified car/motorsport/business community are more than a just bunch of hoons who are a drain on society.

Enough is Enough!!!

Stay tuned for more news!

This is agreat idea I wish we could do the same here in melbourne.I remember they had a big turn up of motorsport lovers in NSW and hence the government built a new drag strip WSID and fixed the circuit track.Perth was a similar situation with the motorplex.What is Bob Jane doing both here and in Adelaide with these complexes?

This argument seriously pisses me off everytime I hear it.  Until I started racing my Z I did drive too fast on the roads and wrote off my first car.  When I started racing I lost the urge to do stupid things on public roads.  If they want to reduce 'hooning' then they should put more funding into projects such as this and organise cheap, track, drag racing, drifiting days so people can do these things in a safe environment where they won't hurt anyone else.

Good luck!  I hope the government see the light for the sake of all you South Australian folks  ;)

This issue has been ongoing for quite some time and it's very frustrating.   >:(

The SA government is so arrogant it thinks it knows best and argues it will keep hoons off the streets by banning this.

Almost every large civilized city in the world has such motorsport facilities and their argument not only illustrates their arrogance,  it shows the rest of Australia and the world how backward SA can be.

I love Adelaide, but we need to get rid of the socialist "banning" of almost everything by the government to try and solve problems.

I feel better now.....

RBZ 260:
well the latest in SA is

drag racing and u get caught 3 years behind bars.

they finaly (should have done this years ago) by looks of things putting power/car restrictions to under 25. now i just heard this from a younger guy at work 22 and hes pissed, as he was planing to get a v8 next year. not sure what details and what limits but apperenlty it starts 1 September.

i wonder what happens to the ones that are under 25 and probably own a restricted car? forced to sell or will they have exemptions?

RE:bob jane hes a tool......
