G'day Fellow Z owners !
« on: July 09, 2008, 08:35:47 PM »
Hey Everybody !

Just brought myself a 1977 260Z 2+2 from what i understand, stumbled around the net to find some more information on the car and came across this forum, i must say great content & lots to read hope to be spending lots of time on here and really looking forward to joining in on the meets you guys have, anyway i was hopeing some Datsun experts around here could tell me what this things worth? worryed i over paid...

some pics of my car are located here ...

http://www.ozphreak.com/andrew/260Z

from what I've worked out its got a custom front on it. Nice new fresh paint work ( zero rust ) I know the guy that built it really well it was his pride and joy... 5 spd manual a 2.6 out of a 280z i think :S, and nice clean mint black interior, he gave me all the missing bits in the photo to bolt back on just gotta work out where to start only thing missing was the front bar indicators but thanks to this forum i've found a set.

its a nice looking ride in my opinion and the only things i really think it needs is maby bolt on flares & a nice set of rims !

anyway would love some comments and any suggestions you might have to make this a sweet ride !

Cheers, Andrew !

Welcome to the forum

I quite like the custom front spoiler. It is different and appealing to me.

I would loose the rear bumper and I am not sure about the side skirts.

"A ZED IS AN EXPRESSION OF THE OWNERS PERSONALITY"

If you like it keep it that way, you will notice there are heaps of different ideas of how people like their ZEDS to look like on here.

The limited view of the interior looks like it is smick, and the paint job is good. Is it the same colour under the rear carpet?

If your engine is a 2.6L it must be out of a 260Z or the original engine. 280ZX's come out with a 2.8L engine hence the 280. 240Z's come with a 2.4L engine. 5 speed transmissions came with all ZED cars.

If you paid around $7000ish you probably got a good deal. But it could be worth more looking at all the work that went into that front spoiler and body. Especially as the interior is smick.

How much did you pay

Nice one Andrew. That certainly is a unique front spoiler. Never seen one like that before. Would have been a lot of work to get that sorted. Nice looking paint job. Where are you based?

welcome to the forum. good to see another 2+2 that has been resurected.

sorry guys but i couldnt see any interior shots besides the one through the window which u cant realy see much. he paint looks great.

besides the front spoiler work if i think hes done the same sunroof job as i did that would take a lot of time to do. is that a glass top or just metal painted black?

as for what is worth is what you paid. to you it was worth it since u bought it. to someone else it may be worth more and others maybe less. if you happy with it thats all it maters.

you love it even more once you get it on the road and put some nice rims.

the S30 is one car that  i never driven prior that i bought and spent lot of money on it. and dont regret it at all. was worth every cent and im sure lot of zed owners here will tell you the same.

Welcome Andrew...excellent buy !
now for my "personal" touches + opinion !
ditch the rear bumper & replace with original chrome bumper , remove the side skirts.
Leave the front spoiler however. Replace rims with 16x7 panasport-watanabe-minilite style rims in charcoal grey...same as reverend zeds car.
it needs a little chrome to give it a facelift.

Yes good cheap buy. You can't have chrome on the rear and not the front. If the rear bar was to go it would need to be replaced with something blue. I wonder if the nice paint was done behind the skirts. That would limit your options. Remember some people like the US look.  :-)
