Cars a long way from paint yet, still have to decide on an engine. The V8 idea is out the window.
Probably go RB but I have to install and engineer, finish the shell decide on a color, body work, the list gos on

truck loads I bet - but if he adds up all the labour in this project it would be small in comparison - if you were charging out for that level of a rebuild.

I'm open to options, has to be very very reliable and about 350-400hp @ flywheel (power spread through rev range, I don't want 400hp at 9000rpm and nothing at 3000rpm)

Standard 2400cc L6 is out because of reliability at power level Im after (And I don't own one)
I own a Lexus V8 (4000cc) but It's out because It would need forced induction for the power and that makes it too big for the rules

RB25det is right size, power and would still be reliable

You can get 350-400 flywheel HP from L6 in NA form and reliable too. Take 30% losses so that is 245HP to 280HP at the wheels. There are number of engines I have seen, owned, that make this HP at the wheels from L6 in NA form, some EFI throttle bodies, other on carbs. One engine I know is 4 race season old with no issues.

I am sure Pete Mc can assist with your power goals from any engine of your choice. I thought others on this had done the numbers on the new rules and a 3.2 super charged engine just fits - so then a 3.0 turbo should fit too?

Finding info on allowed engine conversion's is next to impossible, when I'm ready I'll let the engineer answer the questions.

Not interested in the L6, I want to drive the thing not work on it ;)

More pic's. Still in the trial fit and test phase

Using panels off other cars is always very handy to check measurements. Just in case mines not 100%

Awsome job on the build mate, i should have done that to begin with myself, but 5 years to build it was enough without adding another 2 for panel. In regards to an engineers, i have been talking to a few different ones. I went down the RB25turbo route, With an RB30 bottom end with very similar numbers in the garage. Its worth talking to a few different engineers, they all have different interpretations of the rules. As of the 1st of February this year you even need an engineers for club rego. >:(

VIC roads is closing all the holes, but gives you some outs. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/CC48FC10-4D57-4F04-82E1-3BD72EF88340/0/VSI8.pdf
As far as i can tell you just need an engineers to prove the car is safe for a "Street Rod"  http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/PermitsModificationsAndDefects/OtherPermits/ClubPermits.htm
