There are a few sellers here who have a mix of some New OEM parts but very limited, that said, you will probably find that on this forum, if someone hasnt got the RHD part you are after, they will know who has.

What are you after? Tail lamps I'd gather ?

Is there a shop in AU specializing in older RHD Z car parts?

Especially OEM Nissan parts!

Thanks!

USA

Kerrigan,

I find it painful to see you asking - once again - about OEM parts for your Fairlady Z-L. You seem to ask everywhere about them except the most obvious and pertinent place ( Japan.... ).

Many of the parts you ask about ( most recently new OEM wiper arms for RHD cars ) are in ready supply with Japanese specialists. The replacement VIN tags you asked about are also in ready supply in Japan ( via 'Revive Jalopy', as I told you ) and yet you don't ever seem to get anywhere with it. It's like watching somebody trying to learn to ride a bicycle....

I know the language problem can be quite daunting, but try to meet them half way at least. Just firing off a few ( English ) e-mails isn't going to work. I'd suggest writing ( old fashioned! ) letters, and sending via Air Mail. As the owner of an unusual and - in your country - rare JDM car, you just have to roll your sleeves up and get on with helping yourself. For me, that challenge is half the fun and enjoyment in owning such a car.

But by far the easiest solution for you - being based in the USA - is to use the services of a USA-based business like Jay Ataca's 'JDM Car Parts':  http://jdm-car-parts.com/about/    He's even a member on the classiczcars.com forum ( like us ).

If not, then there are web-based companies like RHD Japan who can also help you. All you have to do is ask them.

You should start your own website where you can give people directions on how to do, well lets say just about anything!

Not only have you created duplicate threads but you've not told us what you're after each time....

I'll address a number of posts in this reply:

Yes, I've been searching and no I've not had much luck.

I sent many emails to places like Jalopy, and even tried Nissan in Japan.  I hear there are people in Japan who can get these parts, but nobody seems to have a specific name/email/regular address so I can contact them.  Jalopy replied once they could get the ID plate, and when I asked how much and how can I get it they didn't reply ... to three attempts.

Same with the AU "contacts" ... no joy.

I did manage to finally find a pair of wiper arms, ... at an outrageous cost (I think $350 was a little excessive, but you can't drive in Oregon without them ...).  A fuel pump is available, rebuilt, for $650 ... regular Nikki pump .. go figure.  Dash?  Ha-ha.  Good luck.  Glad I don't need one.

Steering rack for RHD ... made of "unobtainium".

When on is in America, where these cars are very rare, nobody has parts locally.  So I have to look around the world.  And that's why I ask everywhere.  Once in a while it pays off.  Just scored a rebuild kit for the fuel pump, which "nobody had" ... out of Canada.

How do I contact "Jesse streeter" ...?  Be great to know someone in Japan who can score parts!

Got the contact for NISSAN in Japan from NISSAN USA and the link doesn't work ... which is typical.

I did suggest to guy who put up a "Fairlady Z only" website, but I think he's given up on it ... the site hasn't changed in a couple of years.

Something like turn signal stalk is unique to JDM cars as it has a passing light button on the end of the stalk and 240Zs don't ... found one after 3 years of trying!

So, yes I ask a lot, and all over the web, so please be patient and PLEASE tell me where all these "easy to get" parts contacts are located!

Sorry but I thought I was being specific when I asked about windshield wiper arms for RHD, ... same with the S30 ID plate (even provided serial number) ... I was hoping to find a source and then send them a "wish list" rather than searching for each specific part one at a time.

I guess what I should do is make a list and then post that list on all the sites once.

We must have a different thought processing mind over here in USA ... ;-)

Just appealing to the world-wide Z community.

Stuart Wilkins Motorsport in Sydney do fully rebuilt steering racks, that's where I got mine from. I'm not sure if you need a core for them to rebuild though and they're not cheap. Could be worth asking the question though.

Nishi san and his family ( it was probably his son who answered your initial enquiry ) are people whom I would count as personal friends. I have known them for many years, have visited them personally on several occasions over the years and have both bought parts from, and had them made by, Nishi san and his staff. 'Revive Jalopy' have a good name in the Japanese Z (and GT-R) scene, and I would trust them implicitly.

What you need to do is to man up and put some faith in humanity. You also need to stop thinking that the world revolves around the USA. I've told you before ( I'm sure you're sick of hearing me say it... ) that you own a JAPANESE model of Z and you need to stop thinking that the mountain is going to come to Mohammed. In the case of your repro 'VIN' tag quest, you need to tell Revive Jalopy your car's chassis number and give them your full credit card details, your home address and anything else that might be relevant. Invest some trust in them. Try to see things from their point of view. They get hundreds of 'window shoppers', so show them you are serious. What's the worst that can happen? Your credit card supplier will protect you.

I live ( I figure ) at least twice as far away from Japan as you do. I reckon this whole thing is far harder for me than it should be for you. And yet all I see is you struggling, asking questions to the wrong people in the wrong places, and talking ( writing ) as though you don't even know the differences ( let alone the similarities ) between your car and the 'Export' models that shared so many parts with them. I mean, WTF? Really. Why on earth are you talking about your mechanical fuel pump as though it's rocking horse sh*t, when it's more than likely exactly the same as the part fitted to the North American market cars? It's like you haven't really done the due diligence in researching/learning what it is you've got.

I despair when I see you stating that the Z-L's 'Passing Lamp' switch function is "unique" to the Japanese market when it's NOT! This is something that I - and others - have discussed on the classiczcars.com forum ( of which you are a member ) and - if you had searched - you would have found that it was NOT "unique" to the Japanese market. In any case, what's wrong with yours? It's just a sprung contact switch and a relay. If you have problems, just ask me! I could find you another ( used ) one quite easily. DON'T expect to find NOS 'off the shelf' ( of course ).

RHD steering rack? Again, I could help - but WHY? Has yours somehow disappeared or melted overnight? They are rebuildable / repairable / adjustable. You should not NEED a new one. The maintenance data is exactly the same as that for the north American market models ( just the rack ratio is different ) so what's the problem?

Wiper arms? $350 US is CHEAP rather than "outrageous" as far as I'm concerned! In any case, if you were more proactive you could have pirated the RHD-specific parts of your old wiper arms and mated them with new replacements of the wearing parts from the north American market cars. You just have to be a little creative, that's all.

It's what most of us with RHD market models have to do most of the time. If you really love your car, you'll embrace the 'difficulties' and challenges, and wear them as a badge of honour.

kerrigan this is the electrical systems area of the forum, hasn't your thought processing realise that this may not be the correct place to ask for a 240z parts source or is that how the thought processing works in the USA ;-)

Wrong place in the forum ... oooops.

Must not have been paying attention.

Still searching for a source for a replacement for the missing engine pillar ID plate ... blank one would be great.

I'll put it in "parts" ... :-)

If anyone knows of a source where I could get a replacement id plate for the engine compartment for the 1971 FairladyZ-L (this one lost 35 years ago during a repaint) I appreciate it.  Tried to contact NISSAN in Japan  but the email address didn't work.  Writing a snail-mail to them ....

Groundhog Day ( again ), I see.....

As I've told you several times Kerrigan, 'Revive Jalopy' in Saitama, Japan can supply you with the correct engine bay 'VIN' tag for your 1971 Fairlady Z-L, and Nishi san will stamp it up himself with your chassis number before sending it out to you.

You're either not trying hard enough, or you're trying too hard in the wrong places ( like asking Nissan Japan, for example ). If you can't sort it out yourself then ask a company like RHD Japan or Jay Ataka at http://jdm-car-parts.com/ to help you. Half of Jay's stock comes from Revive Jalopy anyway....
