Alignment measurements. Front to back hub.

(1/1)

peter t:
Hi, I have just installed 25mm lowered king springs and adj caster rods and was wondering what is the distance from back to front hub measurement as one wheel is further forward than the other with the caster rods at the same length as standard. Need to get it close before taking to experts for alignment to save too much embarrassment. As usual I didn't check before pulling apart. Toe in is looking good but steering wheel is off. Thanks for help in advance.
Peter.

Whatever you try to do by "eye" will be so far out of true, dont worry about it, its the aligners job.
Biggest issue is the rear end can be allsorys if it has had a kiss on a kerb or gutter.
Offsett adjustable rear bushes can fix, or a slitting and rewelding of a rear lower arm can fix.
Try a wheelbase measure each side, is wheels straight, on level ground, not up on stands, an extra pair of hands is an idea.
Use bits of sticky tape on ground and texta marker, use a carpentets set square, hang a short plumb bob off stick down tape mark, roll car off, measure the diagonals, the wheelbases.
Dont worry about guard haps etc, or length of thread on adjust castor rods, cars get bented!

Now I know it's called wheel base. Car is steering great with alignment but need some adj camber things. Where do I get them from to suit a 75 2+2.
Thanks.
