Hello Everyone
Just an introduction from Positive Tennis. My name is Tom, I'm from Sydney NSW. I have an interest in Nissan Zed Cars, have owned 2 280zx's and 4 300zx's over the last 20 years as daily drivers. I have driven many s30's but never had the situation in hand to buy one as a second car, due to various limiting circumstances. Currently I do not own a zed which is why I have posted in the "wanted to buy", section. I am currently driving a VS Commodore as a daily work car and have been trying to save up to maybe buy either a 77 260z coupe or an 83zx if finding a 260z fails.
What has always attracted me to the zed car relates very much to the design and shape of these unique cars along with other cars like these such as the 2000gt and E Etype. I mainly like cars in their original states, I like studying the history of the cars and also like to look at these cars in as many perspectives as possible. As most of you know, much of what has been written and re-written is heavily based on US and UK perspectives and naturally the context is always related to the actual period that the cars were released.
However when I first started reading the posts many people were asking questions based on what they wanted to know today in Australia.
As a result I am keen to ask the questions that may give a better understanding of these cars and the people who enjoy them. I am keen to share knowledge and interact this way, something that I have not done before, and I think this is important to the future preservation of the marque. There needs to be a human element and cultural perspective linked to the cars. It may sound like I am doing research, and some of the forum questions may be different but I think the knowledge gained could be very useful. Anyway hope people don't mind this type of interaction.
Cheers.

Well sad, and welcome!
Your passion is sure to be appreciated.
I still reckon you could write a book though!

Ha Ha Welcome Tom. They giving you a hard time already. Persist you will be OK.
I don't see how you will have a problem finding an old Zed. Get one and people will be impressed. Then you will feel even more a part of this community. Keep up the questions. Sometimes new blood, ideas are a good thing rather than us old stale farts answering the usual bullshiver questions like.... wheel offsets, flare kits, how much is a Zed worth and how do I make my car go faster. Ha Ha
Cheers

Welcome mate, I really like your "theoretical" discussions, especially the recent one of Looking into the future. I think this a good way to see how people view/interact with their cars and why they have them. No one has chosen a Z because it was convenient so it is good to see people's motivations and interests. Keep em coming :)
